🌿 Zoo keeper Work Experience Induction Days 🦜🦎

Need to complete work experience as part of your college or university course, we’d love to hear from you!

Before joining our team, all new work experience students are required to attend one of our induction days.

Friday 16th October
Saturday 17th October

🕘 Time: 9:00am – 4:00pm

During the induction you’ll meet the team, learn about health and safety, discover what your role will involve, and gain an insight into what it’s like to work at the zoo.

Headlands School Celebrates GCSE Results

Students at Headlands School are celebrating today after achieving amazing GCSE results.

Mr Woolley, Deputy Head praised the cohort's dedication, saying the results were "A celebration of our students’ hard work, determination and resilience. These results reflect not only their academic achievements, but the personal growth they have shown throughout their time with us. We are incredibly proud of every student and wish them every success as they take their next steps.”

Among the standout performers were Theo Holden and Chloe Garbutt who both achieved eight GCSEs at Grades 7 - 9 and were “top of the class” for our 2026 cohort.

Head of School, Mrs Stamford added: “Today is a very special and emotional day for our students, and we could not be prouder of them. Their GCSE results are a reflection not only of their hard work, but of the resilience, courage and determination they have shown throughout their journey with us here at Headlands School.
There have been challenges along the way, but our students have continued to support one another, keep going and believe in themselves. That resilience is something that they will carry with them long after today, and in many ways it is their greatest achievement.
As a school, we are incredibly proud of every young person. Whatever their results, they should take a moment to recognise how far they have come. They have grown into remarkable young people, and we are excited to see where their next chapter takes them.”

Students at Headlands School are celebrating today after achieving the school's best-ever A-Level results post-Covid.

Mr Harah, Associate Assistant Head of 6th Form praised the cohort's dedication, saying “today is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the achievements of our Year 13 students and to recognise the incredible journey they have been on. Their A-level results are a testament to their hard work, commitment and determination, but what makes us most proud is the resilience they have shown along the way.
Every student has faced their own challenges, and each has continued to strive, grow and believe in what they can achieve. Today is about so much more than grades; it is about celebrating the young people they have become and the confidence, independence and character they have developed during their time in our Sixth Form. We are incredibly proud of every student and grateful to our dedicated staff and supportive families who have helped them reach this moment. Whatever path they choose next, we know they have the resilience, ambition and self-belief to make it a success. We wish them every happiness and success as they begin the next exciting chapter of their lives.”

Among the standout performers was Harry Thurlbeck, who achieved 3 Grade A’s and will now go on to study Physics at The University of York. Amazing!

Two of our students have also secured our Headlands Scholarship - worth £30K each over the next three years. They are Priya Booth and Kelsie Atkin.

This scholarship is an amazing opportunity to secure funding for University Tuition Fees and enables students to complete their studies without this financial burden. In its 10th year, the difference the Headlands Scholarship makes is truly life changing and we look forward to hearing about the students' journeys and future successes along the way.

We wish all of our Year 13 students every happiness and success for the future. They leave us not simply with qualifications, but with the resilience, ambition and self-belief to make a positive difference in the world. We cannot wait to see what they achieve next.
