We have had a great, informative day today seeing what has to offer our medical students and Headlands school. The trip was really worthwhile for the students as they got to see the state of the art Allam Medical building where they were able to look at the mannequins and equipment and have a practical session on how to wash their hands correctly for surgery. We then had a fun session about social work and an invaluable UCAS session with We ended the day with a tour of the grounds including the student accommodation and of course the student union

We had a great session at the academy on Wednesday thanks to Tony from the NHS. He brought his rapid response vehicle with him and showed us all of the equipment that is kept on board and what the different equipment is used for.
We then went into our clinical skills facilities and the learners were able to have a hands on session with the medical equipment.
It was a fantastic opportunity for the learners to see how the equipment works, to ask Tony about his career at the NHS and to gain valuable knowledge to help them in their next steps after college and sixth form

Maude offers fantastic insights on how a patient could present in a real life hospital experience by being programmed in with different symptoms, allowing the students to assess and diagnose
