What is Axel Scheffler's favourite thing to draw? ... Squirrels of course! ✏️🐿
He says they are one of his favourite animals to illustrate because they are so expressive and lively. He has even drawn a whole book about them. 📕
'How to keep a pet squirrel' was a serious text found inside a children's encyclopedia, picked up at a jumble sale. Intrigued by the unlikely notion of a child attempting to keep so wild an animal, Axel then created a series of delightful, beautifully finished illustrations to accompany the text.
👀 If you want to see 'How to keep a pet squirrel' and more of Axel's humorous drawings, don't forget to visit the museum for our new exhibition, Axel Scheffler: A Life in Illustration. You'll also find many more of your favourite characters such as the Gruffalo, Zog and Pip and Posy. The exhibition is running until 28 October.
The exhibition is FREE entry (with donations welcome).
Whilst visiting, don't forget to join in with our Axel themed activities (£2 per child), we have something new happening each week of the holidays as well as our book bingo trail (£1 each) which will be running throughout the summer. ⛱

Dear parents,
It's nearly time!!!!!😳
We are really looking forward to welcoming all the children back into school on Monday 7th September!
Before the summer holidays we put out a post to let you know you know that this page was to be replaced with a more secure group page that only parents of North Newton Primary School children would have access to.
The link to this new page will be shared to parents via letter when school reopens and then this page will be closed. We hope to get as many parents joining the new page as possible so we can use it as another effective way of communicating school messages/news/events.
😊See you soon on the new group and at school!
