Brede Steam Giants The Brede Steam Giants is a society based in the East Sussex countryside , local to Hastings and Rye Cash Only Site

The Steam Giants is a registered charity that aims to help educate people and rescue artefacts of water history . At the Heritage Centre you will find a blast from the past starting with the 1904 steam engine driving the water pumps moving up through the years going though petrol , paraffin and diesel powered pumps then moving up in to the electrical powered pumps ending up with a set of 2004 ele

ctric submersible units . The Heritage Centre is open to the public on the First Saturday of each month and selected open days through out the year , on these open days you will find some Very informative Guided tours around the site explaining to you about the whole process of water extraction and processing . All of the exhibits will normally be rotating under compressed air , they will either be all rotating at once or they will be rotating in a set order though out the day . The opening times are 10.00- 16.00 on the First Saturday of each month

The Heritage Centre is FREE to enter but donations are well come

Free parking on site also

There are refreshments and souvenirs available to buy .

Hi All

We are Open on Saturday 2nd and Monday 4th May 2026 10.00 - 16.00

There are signs up saying the A28 is closed at Brede , the A28 at Brede is closed over night with works finishing at 06.00 access to the waterworks its maintained throughout the closure , so the road should be open when you come to visit .

This weekend will be our first full test of running solely on electric compressors with out our diesel compressor so please bare with us while we work out what we can and cant run , but both big engines will run on both days
