Weekly Glimmers 🍁
The trees are turning. This week, the walls wore red velvet, Virginia creeper cascading like a slow exhale.

The colours didn’t ask for attention. They simply arrived, bold and unapologetic. A reminder that change can be beautiful, even when it’s messy. Even when it’s quiet.

Glimmers found in:
🍂 A wall ablaze with crimson
🌳 A tree dressed for its final dance
Here’s to the turning. And to noticing the beauty in the shift.

🌟 Glimmer of the week 🌟
Belated birthday joy with my eldest - finally celebrating his 18th with a day of supercar thrills and sunshine (a rare combo lately!) with my siblings and parents (less my brother 🙃 )
Watching him beam as he stepped out of each car was pure delight. And yes, the transition back to my humble Hyundai i20 was... entertaining. Let’s just say we had a good laugh as he recalibrated! 😆
I’m deeply grateful for the time together. I know not everyone gets these moments with their children, and that makes them all the more precious.
Here’s to shared adventures, unexpected sunshine, and the kind of memories that stick. 💛

✨ Glimmers in the sky ✨
These past few weeks have been spectacular for rainbows—those fleeting arcs of colour that feel like nature’s way of whispering, “Look up.”
There’s something undeniably magical about them. Not just the age-old myth of a pot of gold at the end (though I wouldn’t mind stumbling across one!), but the science itself is a marvel:
Rainbows are optical illusions created when sunlight hits raindrops, bending and bouncing through them to split into a spectrum of colours. The angle has to be just right—about 42 degrees between you and the sun. So every rainbow is uniquely yours, seen from your exact spot on Earth. Isn’t that beautiful?
To me, rainbows are glimmers—those tiny, soul-lifting moments that remind us the world still holds wonder. A sudden burst of colour after a storm. A quiet pause in the rush of the day. A reminder that light can bend and still shine.
🌈 Have you caught any rainbows recently? I’d love to see your photos and hear your glimmer stories.

🌿 Weekly Glimmers 🌿
This week had its heavier moments—quiet house, a few worries, and a bit of a low mood. But in the midst of it all, some beautiful sparks of joy:
💐 A surprise bouquet from my boyfriend, now brightened with sunflowers to stretch the sunshine a little longer.
🍅 First taste of homegrown tomatoes—sweet, juicy, and totally worth the wait.
🏞 An impromptu wild swim mid-hike that felt like a reset button.
🏃‍♀️ And… I smashed a personal best on a 5km hill climb—nearly 10 minutes off! Still feeling that, mind! 😆
🌾 And the view from that run? Golden hay bales rolled tight against the green and grey sweep of the Beacons. A moment of stillness and awe in motion.
Not every week is easy, but these little glimmers reminded me that joy often shows up quietly, and sometimes unexpectedly. ✨

Hello Friday 🌞
And another warm one at that!
I’m sitting in my office, reflecting on the past week (or maybe fortnight?) as I pull together this post. It’s funny how so many seemingly ordinary moments have quietly left their mark. They might go unnoticed by others, just as I’m sure I’ve missed plenty of remarkable ones myself. But that’s the magic of glimmers, they’re deeply personal. They lift us in small, meaningful ways, offering calm, joy, gratitude, and a sense of regulation. And they look different for each of us.
Mine often show up while I’m running — sunrises, sunsets, rainbows, and the unexpected friendships formed along the way.
I also love food, and making good choices can be a bit of a struggle… so when I do, I feel genuinely proud of myself.
This week, I stretched my comfort zone by dunking my head under a waterfall — and doing it alongside others who cheer each other on made it all the more joyful.
I’ve also come to deeply appreciate the women I strength train with. That time together isn’t just about movement — it’s about connection, and it means a lot.
Anyway, enough of my rambling…
What glimmers have shown up in your week? ✨

Had me a little break this week.
Well, I say a break, but I am more tired this Friday than I was last!
I popped over to Aberystwyth for a few days away, which was lovely. The Air BnB was fantastic, very quiet and peaceful, with a very friendly four-legged co-host as a bonus!
However, this break was not as restful as some - with a hike up to briefly watch the planes on the Mach Loop on the first day (we saw a C130 fly past only a few hundred feet away 😎) and a decent seaside fish and chips spread in Aberystwyth, a hike around the local villages and beaches and a sea dip on day two along the Ceredigion Coastal path, and then an epic day on Snowdon on day three. I say epic, as despite the weather being rather limiting in terms of visibility, we still attempted the descent along Crib Goch. This took me right to the edge of my comfort zone, and because the weather was not on our side, we had to turn back before Bwlch Coch as we simply could not make out the path in front of us.
Still, the cloud was swirling around us at the summit, giving us special views above the cloud deck.
I am grateful this week for the time, opportunity and strength to be able to be as active as I am. I am grateful for trying new things (I would never have thought to have gone plane spotting on the Mach loop), and for the wisdom and humility to know when turn back. I am grateful for the company, and friendship I have in my life, and for the beauty of the countryside I live in and near.
How about you all, any glimmers in your week?

I think I need to potentially change the name of this post to Monthly Glimmers! Weekly is not proving too successful at the moment!
Anyhow, here we are again, Friday, and the beginning of a few days break from work and normal life for me!
Here are my recent glimmers, with a little explanation for each photo:
🌞 I practiced some micro-navigation to find the bomber memorial crash site in a rather challenging area of the Black Mountain. I was pretty spot on to locate it, which was pretty awesome, but then lost my concentration, put a foot down a pothole and couldn't estimate 100m for love nor money - that's why we practice, right? Lots of laughs along the way, and a lush ice cream at the end!
🌞 Catching sunset across the barley fields.
🌞 Pausing whilst hiking Fan Brycheiniog, and taking in the view.
🌞 Finding a 'hearts in nature' ish crisp. Made me smile!
🌞 I grew a pair ... of tomatoes! So impressed and very tasty!
🌞 No filter, honestly, this rose just shone out at me just before my morning workout on Tuesday, glistening in the rain.
