30 YEARS OF LLANGORSE 🎂
From a working farm to 30 years of adventure…
And if you were around in 1996, you might remember a few other things that were just getting started… 👀
• The Spice Girls released Wannabe
• Nintendo launched the N64
• Lara Croft made her debut in Tomb Raider
• Trainspotting hit the big screen
• Pokémon arrived on the Game Boy 🎮
Yeh, we're feeling pretty old too. 😂
But while all that was happening, something pretty special was taking shape here in Llangorse…
The horse riding centre had already been established in 1958, but in the 1990s the family decided to diversify the working farm and create something new: Llangorse Activity Centre.
The centre opened in 1996, bringing indoor and outdoor adventure to this beautiful corner of the Brecon Beacons.
And the climbing didn’t stop there.
In 2009, the bouldering centre opened, and over the years it has continued to grow and develop alongside the rest of the centre.
There have been plenty of changes and challenges along the way, but some things haven't changed: we're still a family-run business, still surrounded by an incredible landscape, and still here to give people the chance to get outside, try something new and have an adventure.
We've survived 30 years (including a rather memorable global pandemic!) and that's no small feat. 🫶
So this September, we're celebrating 30 years of Llangorse - and, most importantly, the people who've been part of the journey. We’ve been sharing stories from some of the people who’ve made Llangorse their climbing home over the years, as part of our ‘Climbers in the Community’ series.
And that's not all.
We're planning a proper birthday bash later this year - and you're all invited! Keep an eye out for more details.
What else can you think of that turns 30 in 2026? 👇
