Christ College Brecon

Christ College Brecon Christ College Brecon is a HMC Independent Boarding & Day School for Boys & Girls aged 4-18
(1)

Set within the stunning scenery of the Brecon Beacons National Park, Christ College was founded in 1541 by Henry VIII and every pupil proudly bears the ‘h’ logo that links the current members of the school with the founder. Our school motto, translated into English from Latin, means ‘They achieve because they believe they can’ and this remains as true of today’s pupils as it has been throughout th

e history of the school; developing personal confidence and the willingness to take on new experiences and challenges are among the core aims of the school. Our community is a small one and is closely knit in which pupils strive for their own successes but are equally keen to support one another and to celebrate each other's gifts and abilities. Some of the best moments in school life here involve the positive role models and mentors provided by senior pupils to the youngest in our community, from which both benefit enormously. Our staff are committed to the personal development of pupils, encouraging them to achieve their goals and to grow into confident and accomplished adults. Pupils are well supported and advised at every stage, especially as they prepare to move on into the world of universities and work. There is something magical about this place that can only be experienced at first hand and we look forward to introducing you to it.

As we come to the end of our year celebrating 40 years of co-education, there is one part of the story still to be told. For our final post, we complete the historical jigsaw by focusing on the redevelopment of Donaldson’s house for a new era.

Not all Old Breconians were happy about the change from a house for boys to a house for girls. Visit the CCB community hub to see what was reported in 'The Breconian' of the time, and learn more about the re-opening of Donaldson’s as a girls’ House in September 1998:

We were delighted to welcome the Brecon Classic Car Show to Christ College yesterday! 🚗☀️

It was wonderful to see our campus filled with stunning cars, while families enjoyed a sunny Sunday exploring the displays, chatting with the owners, and learning about the history behind these incredible vehicles.

And it’s not every day you have a giant yellow duck paying a visit! 💛🦆 tims_big_duck

A fantastic event for the community, thank you to the organisers!

Congratulations to you both, these impressive results show your commitment and dedication to the sport and we look forward to seeing you continue to develop your skills on the water.

🚴‍♂️⛰️ Challenge Complete! ⛰️🚴‍♂️

We are delighted to share that Mr Thomas has reached the summit of Ben Nevis, completing the final stage of his extraordinary Three Peaks Challenge!

Over the past few weeks, Clive has climbed Yr Wyddfa, Scafell Pike and Ben Nevis, cycling between each mountain and taking on the challenge in some exceptionally hot and demanding conditions. An incredible achievement by any measure.

Even more impressively, Clive has so far raised almost £1,300 for two causes close to his heart – The Brain Tumour Charity and the Christ College Brecon Foundation.

A huge congratulations and thank you to Clive for his determination, resilience and inspirational effort. We are immensely proud of what he has accomplished. 👏
