It was amazing to be nominated in the Voluntary group category at the Best of Brecon Awards last night. Thank you to those who nominated us as it was a complete surprise!

We didn't win, that accolade went to the wonderful people at Brecon Community Centre - Powys Dementia Matters.

A big shout out to other nominees too including Messy Mondays , Happy Feet Runners, Brecknock Access Group and the evening's stars Westenders.

It was a wonderful evening hearing bout all the amazing individuals and groups in the town. Many thanks to Brecon Town Council and Y Gaer for hosting.

Life is blooming at the well and the Flag Irises are coming through nicely... the wildflower circle looks like a fairy grotto and the pond and trees are full of life... so lucky to have this on our doorstep. Brecon's best (badly kept) secret? πŸ’šπŸŒΌπŸŒΏ

A clear pond which can breathe and thrive! We love this time of year watching all the new growth come through ... it looks a bit muddy right now but just wait! πŸŒ±β˜€οΈπŸŒΌ

We've already noticed a lot more birds about checking through the pond matter for grubs...πŸͺ±πŸ›πŸ¦‰

There's an owl somewhere in the area and a number of woodpeckers...let us know what you see as Spring arrives...

Happy New Year to all of our lovely followers! πŸ’š

We've had a great meeting already this year with Brecon Town Council and we wanted to let you know that on the next few weeks there will be a contractor at the Well who will be undertaking a pond clearance. πŸ’ͺπŸ‘·β€β™€οΈ

This work will remove part of the overgrowth and silt from the pond and help with the oxygen in the water which is good for the pond creatures! πŸƒπŸŒΏπŸ¦ŽπŸŸ

We've had specialist advice from Brecknock Wildife Trust to undertake this work to make sure we're not disturbing any habitats or hibernating critters. πŸΈπŸ¦ŽπŸ•·πŸ›πŸͺ²πŸ₯€πŸŒΌ

Similarly to a lot of work that's happened over the past 18 months or so, it might look a bit messy for a while but nature will be fast to recover and it will be looking spectacular again in time for spring! πŸŒ±πŸ’š

It's rare we find a lot of litter at the well but after this weekend I found a lot of fireworks and related plastic pieces.

Aswell as the noise and air pollution, there's a lot of toxic chemicals in fireworks and these can be especially harmful to waterways and wildlife.

I know it's more difficult to clean these up because they get hot and its dark etc but please at least make an effort to clear these up after use, even if its the following day, before they can do too much damage...

Loved seeing this very regal chap early this morning... looked like he was holding a Royal Court!
