Here are some more images of our beautiful flower installation work at Lorton Primary School. The inspiration was taken from the wild flowers found growing throughout the Lorton Valley. If you look closely you will be able to spot some of the insects that thrive in this habitat too.

The installation is on the wall of the early years play area and catches the gorgeous morning sun; welcoming all the children at drop off as well as being on show to the whole community as they pass the school.

Fabulous images from Active Arts - Art from Above with Lorton School.

The children transformed their school field into an incredible piece of artwork in tribute to the beautiful Lorton Valley and the animals which live in it's river, on the land and in the sky above it.

The whole school took part in Active Arts ‘Art from above’ workshop in which they learnt about conceptual art and the incredible work of Christo, Dennis Oppenheim and Richard Long. The aim of this workshop is to get children thinking of art in a different way and using unusual everyday house hold items to make large scale art.

The children used everything from sheets and duvets to pans, shoes and wheels, they even used themselves to create shapes and patterns within the artwork. They watched as the drone took films and photos and revealed the amazing scale of their fantastic whole school piece!

Charcoal art the caveman way!!!!

Recipe: Take one burnt stick, scrape off charcoal into a pot. Add a small amount of animal fat and finish with a big dollop of spit. Mix together until it forms a paste. Use this mixture to create beautiful paintings on a cave wall of your choice!

Although we experimented with this idea replacing spit with sunflower oil, we decided it wasn’t as effective as liquid charcoal and paint.

The end results depict our own favourite animal and symbols of nature. Great work Lorton Primary school and many thanks to Honister Slate Mine for donating slate for this interesting workshop which took us back 25,000 years!

What a great day working with the wonderful children of Dean Primary School on Tuesday. This is the start of their beautiful installation piece for the school entrance hall! We can’t wait to see it all finished and up in place! 🤗

Key stage 2 pupils are having a super day with Active Art today working on an exciting centrepiece for our front entrance, inspired by the work of Matisse and our school Christian values. Thank you to Dean School PTA for helping to fund this project. More photos to follow and on Dojo. Younger pupils will get their turn next Tuesday.
