Day 2 of our first ITaP week of the year and trainees are back in their placement schools where they are observing expert colleagues with a behaviour and routines focus, as well as analysing examples of clear expectations, effective routines and positive learning environments.

They will also engage with their Professional Tutor for a deconstruction discussion, before joining the Mid Essex ITT leadership team for an end of day debrief.

There is excitement in the Mid Essex ITT office with not long to go before our recruitment cycle begins once again.

Do you have a degree and a love for your subject? Are you passionate about inspiring the next generation? If so, you could be part of our trainee teacher cohort starting in September 2027.

If you think teaching could be the career for you, you can 'Find' teacher training courses from 29th September and you can 'Apply' as early as 6th October.

Although we do recruit all year until June, places fill up fast, and early applicants have more chance of securing a placement school that suits them, or undertaking a Subject Knowledge Enhancement Course to boost their skills.

Some subjects have bursaries and scholarships attached - so you could get paid while you train!

Yesterday, we have also welcomed over 30 mentors to our first mentor training of the year.

Mentors were updated on the Mid Essex ITT processes and paperwork, as well as offering guidance on how best to support trainees’ and their wellbeing throughout the year.

It was lovely to welcome back some of our repeat mentors, as well as seeing some of our previous trainees now fulfilling the role of mentor for our newest cohort!

Today’s Core Training was delivered by our Assistant Director, Holly Sutton, and Course Tutor, Dan Suen, who spoke to trainees regarding establishing high expectations and provided an introduction to early lesson planning, ahead of our trainees delivering their first lessons next week.
