Kim's Childminding

This week we have been learning all about the Gruffalo - following literacy week the week before.

We have been using paint to paint masks and Gruffalo pictures. We used our hands and brushes to make marks.

We have been on a Gruffalo walk too. We went to the local river walk/forest and went and explored what we could hear and see. We heard some birds (could of been the owl from the story) we saw a deer (could of been the fox from the story) and we saw the grass move (could of been the snake from the story)

At the library this week the children joined in with lots of singing and using the instruments to make sounds. We made them loud and quiet and tapped them to a beat.

We explored all the toys at playgroup today. The children show great sharing skills, communicating with others and being in a larger group.
We got to decorate biscuits using icing and toppings. The children made their patterns on their biscuit ane loved eating these for their snacks.

We have also been practising our number recognition this week with the older children. Counting the spots on the domino's and matching them with the number. Weve also been tracing numbers and trying to say them out loud to.

Another fun week ☺️ lots of settling in 🥰 some lovely relationships forming.

Next week is Harvest week... 🚜 🚜

We have had the best first week settling in our new little ones and welcoming back some after the summer holidays alongside having Olivia start with us too! The children have all warmed to her and have enjoyed having cuddles and playing games.

We have ventured out to the library and enjoyed some singing using the props. All the children were very good at walking to and from the library remembering our safety rules.

We have been making a self portrait this week using the paint sticks. We chose our colours and decorated our person. We spoke about the colours we are wearing and where our eyes, nose and mouth go.

Outside we have been loving water play, 💧 We have been getting very wet by splashing and using the jugs to pour and scoop the water.

Today we ventured out to playgroup where we got to interact with other children, explore new toys and learn about the world around us.

Its been lovely to see new relationships forming and the childrens confidence grow as they settle in each day.

Looking forward to celebrating fitness week and literacy week next 🥰

Settling in visits have gone very well today all ready for their first days next week. 🥰 its been lovely welcoming them all. 😁

Summer holiday club is finally finished here for the summer.
Been a very sad week saying bye to our school leavers. We've had J since he was 11months old, M since she was a baby around 6months old on and off and F is our holiday only little one and all 3 have been an absolute pleasure to look after. I have loved watching them grow into strong, independent, confident big children. I no theyl all smash school, and we hope to see some of them return for holiday club.

Next week we are welcoming our new little ones who will be joining Kim's Childminding and we cannot wait to watch them learn and grow 😀

We continue to grow our waiting list too as spaces can become available, especially from September 2027 and in the school holidays so please do get in touch 🥰

We also get to Welcome Olivia our new assistant to our home from home setting in September and she is super excited to share lots of fun and exciting activities with all our little ones, we cannot wait 😀 🎉

What a beautiful week we have had. 3 weeks into our summer holidays and we have had lots of fun activities and adventures.

The children have spent lots of time outside enjoying the warm sunshine 🌞
We have had ice play out- trying to crack the ice and make it melt to get the animals out.
Weve been making lots of cakes and pies in the digging area using the different material. 🎂
Water play- pouring and emptying the pots and refilling. 💧
Paint play- stomping the dinosuars in the paint 🎨 making lots of dinosuar footprints. 🦕

We've had park visits, using our knowledge of safety as we walk carefully on the path and holding hands with our friends. We looked both left and right as we crossed the road.

Ended the week with baking banana muffins. 🍌 we enjoyed these for our snacks! 😋 they were very yummy! We enjoyed getting invomved in measuring, stirring the ingredients all together and baking them.

2weeks off for me now to spend with my family 🥰 look forward to welcoming my holiday children back for our last week of summer. 👋

The loveliest 2nd week of the summer holidays!

This week our theme has been ice cream! Ways to keep us cool in this hot weather!
We have decorated ice creams in many ways; painting using fruits, colouring in with pens and sticking and glueing tissue paper.

We have used shaving foam outside to scoop up and fill up our ice cream cones. 🍦 this ws every fun and we enjoyed getting very messy!

Its been lovely having some older children here, they have bought lots of imagination play and ideas to all the children.

Weve enjoyed Danny Go discos, obstacle courses made by my Mia, also story times outside in the shade read by Mia, early park trips and lots of water play!

Were going to enjoy a ice pole in the garden to end our week.

A really lovely week all together... 🥰🥰

Our first week of the summer holidays...

We had a sea animal week 🪼 🐟 🐠
Weve been very creative and made jellyfish using paint, glue and tissue paper. Weve decorated lots of different sea animals 💙 using pens and sequins.

Outside we had different sea animals in the water tray, we made some sink and some float. We have been scooping them up too.
Weve also joined in with lots of obstacle courses in the garden and practised a range of different skills such as throwing, catching, jumping and kicking.

A lovely visit to the park to end our week. Great road safety skills shown by holding hands when crossing the road, staying close together and always having our listening ears on.
At the park they all had a great time climbing on and off the equipment and taking it in turns with their friends.

Weve had the best last weel of term...

The children supporting and cheering on my Mia at sports day on Monday. They behaved absolutely amazingly. So proud of them all! We even sneaked in a quick toddler race for them. 🏅 🥈 🎖

We have been enjoying stomping the dinosuars in the paint to make dinosaur prints too. 🦕 🦖 🐲

Lots of outdoor play avoiding the sun at the hottest times. Sun cream, sun hats, shade and lots of drink stops. Always so much to do outside.... digging, water play, balance bikes and more...
