Tuesday dawned bright and sunny and we checked out of our second hotel eager to get onto the glacier exploration. Harnesses and crampons fitted, we headed into the ice and explored a brand new landscape rich in geographical features, and great fun!
We the started the long journey home, via 'just one more' amazing waterfall, one more supermarket raid, and a tour of the sights of Reykjavik City. A quick check-in to the hotel for our last night, and then straight out to the water park (another highlight for most) and dinner at Hard Rock Cafe. This was another fab evening meal - with the exception of a couple of hotel packed lunches, the food on this trip has been really impressive.
As we return to school at the end of Iceland24 I wish to thank the year 11 students for their lovely attitude towards the adventures and for their good company (most of the time!!!). And to thank the local Discover the World Education team in Iceland for the brilliant job they have done. And a special thank you to Mr Walker, Mr Dobson, Mrs Russ and Mrs Owen who have been an amazing team picking up their responsibilities, showing flexibility and commitment to the students' experience while giving up their holiday and family time - and been a lot of fun as well. We've all loved our taste of Iceland - the tip of it's iceberg - I cannot wait to go back! E Wright

Monday was a long and damp day. The main geographical interest switched to glaciers and we visited a number of sites at the feet of different 'arms' of the enormous glacier that dominates Southern Iceland. On one of these glacial lagoons we enjoyed a boat trip. We have loved our two-day stay at the gorgeous Hotel Laki. Iceland We are hoping we might finally see some more sun tomorrow.

Iceland24 Student Takeover....
"The landscapes of Iceland are amazing. You can see for ages and it's very picturesque with all sorts of stuff you don't normally see in the UK. The black beach sand is so cool and the different types of ice are really amazing.
We've enjoyed the activities like going horseriding and the lagoon boat trip where we've really involved in the experience. But it's also been great being with everyone in a big group and mixing with people in our year we don't normally spend time with. We've made new connections that will be nice when we get back to school.
Some bits of Iceland have been surprising. The prices - it's so expensive! You get eggy smells all over the place and we were expecting more ice - lots of grasslands and no proper trees which is weird. The variety of different types of countryside in such a small area is big.
Our highlight so far ... walking behind the enormous waterfall and then the one in the cave." Year 11s CO TFS & WT

Sunday started with checking out of the first hotel. Some year 11s are much better at managing their stuff than others! Then it was off pony-trekking - followed by another amazing lunch in Selfoss food court. This afternoon we've visited two amazing waterfalls and a volcanic beach before checking into Hotel Laki. A cloudy night... not one for stargazing.

Saturday in Iceland continued with an amazing lunch set in the greenhouses of a tomato farm. A really simple lunch - eat all you can - done really well. We then visited an amazing waterfall and the original geyser before returning to our hotel and enjoying dinner at a burger restaurant.

24 hours into the Year 11 Awe and Wonder trip to Iceland and we've found the hotsprings and are enjoying a pre-lunch dip. With pizza for dinner, followed by the Lava Show and a good night's sleep we spent this morning exploring Thingvellir National Park Visitor Center. The weather is 'invigorating' Discover the World Education
