Spent today on a fun match near Snaith.
Yorkshire Angling Academy kids and coaches paired up. Everyone fished individually, then the pairs catch weights added together.

Carp didn't count, so all out for silverfish.

I did somewhat better than last week's 3 fish for 140g.

Lots of small rudd and skimmers, mostly caught on a speed whip by myself, totalled up to 8lb 7oz.
William chose to go for a feeder approach, finishing with 9lb 6oz.
Well done William.

Total weight of 17lb 13oz got us 2nd place out of 21.

October half term open group fishing lessons are now available to book via our Angling Trust Swimbooker page.

Current available locations include Farview fishing lakes and The Leeds/Liverpool canal in Bingley.

See link in comments or pinned post for open lessons at the top of this page.

Remember you only need to book and pay for those fishing.
Parents or carers do not need to book a place unless they wish to fish. (i.e. Do not tick the participant box unless fishing)

First time fishing for these two guys recently at Farview fishing lakes. Both had small roach to start off with, followed by a mix of roach, perch and skimmers.
A small carp topped things off as the last fish of the session. It lead us a bit of a dance on a whip with light elastic. Despite his excitement, the young man remained composed, with a bit of assistance, he soon had the fish in the net.

Finally back home, safe and sound. From the Angling Trust Division 2 National Championship.
The day probably didn't go quite as we would have liked.
First put in resulted in a small skimmer, yay, Great start...
After that the float only went under another three times in the five hours match. Two of those resulted in small perch, the third was an attitude packed miniature 🦞 in the form of a signal crayfish.
Similar results were recorded in neighbouring pegs; good to know it it wasn't just me struggling for bites.

Ultra light tackle, size 22 hooks to 0.08mm bottoms, 0.3g floats, small baits, pinkies, squatts, 2mm bread punch and bits off worm.
If the fish aren't there, or not feeding, there's not much more you can do.

A reminder that this called fishing, not called catching.

Saturday saw this young man bag his first carp at Farview fishing lakes.
Only small, but great sport on light tackle. A bit of a shock followed by excitement after the small roach and skimmers, we had been getting.
Well pleased, the smile says it all.
