Southfield School came into existence in April 2010 as part of the Bradford District reorganisation of special schools. We moved into our new building to form the Southfield Grange Campus in June 2011. Southfield is a 'generic' special school, which means that we provide a specialist educational provision across a wide spectrum of learning difficulties and complex disabilities. In September 2013 the school converted to become a Special Academy under the control of the Southfield Grange Trust. On 1st June 2019 we joined the Co-op Academies Trust and proudly became Co-op Academy Southfield. Co-op Academy Southfield comprises two elements: the main school, which is part of the Southfield Grange building, that we share with Co-op Academy Grange, and the Pathfinder Vocational Centre (PVC) on the other side of Haycliffe Lane, which provides specialist education and training aimed at providing pathways for life after school for our sixth form students. We have on-site support from other professionals including Speech and Language Therapists, the School Nursing team, Physiotherapy teams as well as support from Social Care and other services. Our school also enjoys close links with education, leisure, sporting and commercial organisations across the locality and we are keen to actively promote these partnerships for the benefit of the children in our care. Currently, we cater for approximately 280 students with a wide range of complex and individual needs. This includes 80 in the Pathfinder Vocational Centre and up to 8 at our Project SEARCH site at Bradford Royal Infirmary. In March 2015, Southfield received an Ofsted grading of good with outstanding features, which we maintained in December 2018.
