Dear Parents and Carers,

I am writing to inform you that the school will be closed tomorrow.

I am very sorry for the inconvenience and for any frustration this inconsistency may cause. However, due to ongoing external issues, I am unable to guarantee that we will have electricity and heating in place for the school day.

The wellbeing and safety of our children are at the heart of every decision I make. This decision has not been taken lightly, but without certainty that we can provide a warm and fully functioning environment, I cannot responsibly open the school.

We will continue to monitor the situation closely and will keep you updated with any further information as soon as possible.

Due to an unexpected power cut, we have no electricity on site and therefore no facilities to prepare lunches or keep the school warm.

For the safety and comfort of all pupils, the school is closing immediately today.

Please arrange to collect your child from their classroom door as soon as possible. Staff will remain with pupils until they are collected.

Each winter thousands of children who do not have a health condition need hospital care because of flu. Because children catch and spread flu easily, they can also pass it to people in your family or community who are at higher risk of getting seriously ill from flu, such as babies, anyone who's pregnant and older people.

We are taking part with thousands of schools, communities and workplaces wearing yellow this World Mental Health Day and raise money to show young people that they’re not alone with their mental health.

Right now, the world can be a tough place for children and young people to grow up in – and they are feeling the pressure. We want young people to know that they don’t have to go through this alone. Things can get better.
Friday the 10th October, for a donation to support mental health charities children are invited to wear something yellow or their favourite bright colour.

The School Immunisation team will be in school soon to vaccinate children from Reception to Year 11 against flu. Your child will not receive the vaccine if you have not given your consent so, “Yes” or “No”, the School Immunisation team needs you to please fill in the consent form which will be sent to you from school.
The flu vaccine is slightly different each year due to different strains of flu, so even if your child was vaccinated last year, they need the vaccine again this year and your consent is required.

Most children are offered the nasal spray flu vaccine. It contains a small amount of gelatine from pigs (porcine gelatine). A flu vaccine injection is available that does not contain gelatine. If you do not want your child to have the nasal spray vaccine, please ask for the flu vaccine injection on the school consent form.

Throughout flu we offer clinics in various locations over the school holidays and some Saturdays. If we missed your child in school or you prefer a clinic appointment you can contact the team on 01274 221269 to book an appointment. Depending on the number outstanding in schools we will try and offer a catch-up session within school.
