As the weather gets warmer, please help keep children safe in and around water. Always supervise little ones closely near paddling pools, ponds, baths and swimming pools, empty paddling pools after use, and encourage regular drinks and sun-safe breaks in the shade. A few simple precautions can help everyone enjoy the sunshine safely! 💦🕶️🌞

☀️ BBQ Season Safety Reminder ☀️

As we head into BBQ and picnic season, please remember that changes to routines, busy environments, and eating whilst playing or moving around can increase the risk of choking for young children.

Foods commonly enjoyed at barbecues, such as sausages, grapes, cherry tomatoes, and chunks of meat, can be choking hazards for children under 5 if not prepared appropriately.

To help keep children safe:
• Encourage children to sit down while eating.
• Always supervise mealtimes.
• Cut foods into age-appropriate pieces.

A few simple precautions can help ensure everyone enjoys a safe and happy summer. 🌞

🌞 HOT WEATHER ALERT 🌞

With temperatures remaining unusually high across the UK, it’s important to remember that babies and young children are especially vulnerable to heat-related illness and sunburn.

Children under 5 can overheat much more quickly than adults, and babies under 6 months should be kept out of direct sunlight wherever possible.

To help keep little ones safe:
✅ Stay in the shade, especially between 11am and 3pm
✅ Offer regular drinks to prevent dehydration
✅ Use SPF 50+ sun cream and reapply frequently
✅ Dress children in lightweight clothing and a sun hat
✅ Never leave a child in a parked car, even for a few minutes

Watch out for signs of overheating, including unusual tiredness, irritability, dizziness, or hot skin.

Let’s all enjoy the sunshine safely and protect our youngest children during this hot spell. ☀️💛

At our preschool, safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do. Every child deserves to feel safe, secure, valued, and heard, and we are committed to creating an environment where children can learn, grow, and thrive with confidence.

Throughout Safeguarding Week, we will be highlighting the importance of protecting children’s wellbeing, promoting positive relationships, and ensuring every child has a trusted adult they can turn to. Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility, and by working together with families, staff, and our wider community, we can help children feel supported every day.

Today we celebrate all the amazing men who play a special role in our children’s lives – dads, stepdads, grandads, uncles, carers, and father figures. Thank you for your love, support, guidance, and all the wonderful memories you help create.
