After 30 years of working with UBU, we say goodbye to Deborah Moore who is retiring today. Debs has worked in all the areas of the students union and as enhanced the student experience of thousands of students and she will be missed by all. We wish her the best of luck in her retirement. UBU will not be the same without her.

It was exactly 2 years ago now when I walked into this role so clueless and everyday was like trying to find my rhythm. Many memories, many people, many events and many times that made me get out of my shell today and be where I am

The journey hasn’t been constant but the fact that I’ve been surrounded and supported by so many amazing people means the Worley to me. To societies, sports clubs, reps, and volunteers working with you and living these memories with you have been everything to me. Thankyou so much for being part of this chapter of my life I’ll be forever grateful and wishing our path aligns again .

Dear students, staffs, my collegues , council members and everyone who has been integral part of my journey, thankyou so much I wouldn’t have been able to do it without you . It has been such an eye opening and best 2 years for me and I’ll forever be grateful for this role, amazing people and amazing moments.

Today marks the last day for our 2025-2026 UBU sabbatical team: Anas Iqbal, Sanskrity Baraili and Raizana Razeen. We are sad to see them go, but we are immensely grateful for their dedication and leadership over the past year.

We’ve all shared funny, great, and inspiring memories with the team. Just one year ago, they embarked on their journey by spending a day away for training, where, in a rather unexpected twist, they all got lost in Ilkley. No one quite knows how this happened. Thankfully the team pulled together from that moment to make these past 12 months memorable.

This year will be remembered for the incredible events they ran together, including two qawwali evenings, the UBU Awards (the UBIES), student rep awards, Multiple of trips, Culture festival, Social media engagement and their tireless work in ensuring students’ voices were heard by the University.

Anas, Sanskrity, and Raizana now bid us farewell as they conclude their terms in office to pursue what we all hope (and know) will be successful careers. The memories we’ve created together over the past year are ones we will cherish forever.

Thank you for everything, and best of luck in your future endeavors.

As I wrap up my final day as President of Education at the Student Union, I’ve been reflecting on the last two years. It’s been an incredible journey, and I wanted to share a massive thank you to everyone who made this time so special.

To all our Sports Club Execs, Society Execs, Council Members, School and Student Representatives - I’ve been so impressed by the energy and dedication you’ve all brought to your roles. Whether we worked closely on projects or just crossed paths, I’m so grateful for the passion you bring to the student experience every day!

You’ve made my time in this position incredibly memorable, and I’m going to miss our meetings, our chats, and all the great work we’ve tackled together.

Thank you all for the support and the memories. Keep doing the amazing work you do; it truly makes a difference. Wishing you all the very best with your studies and everything that comes next!
