Cath Soc Junior: Faith, Creativity and Leadership 🙏
This week we held our first Cath Soc Junior meeting of the new academic year, and our students certainly rose to the challenge!
We began by reading and exploring next Sunday’s Gospel before considering how we could connect its message with our College theme, “Everyone Matters”, the Catholic Social Teaching principle of Human Dignity, and our College virtue of the week, Service.
Creating our Morning Prayer reflections is not an easy task. Students have to think deeply about Scripture and find meaningful ways of connecting the Gospel with our themes and the lives of young people today. As always, they came up with some inspiring and thought-provoking ideas.
We encourage Cath Soc to be a genuinely creative process where no idea is wrong. We allow the ideas to flow, listen to one another and remain open to where the Holy Spirit might guide our thinking. From those initial ideas, students work together to develop reflections that will eventually be shared with the wider College community during House Welcome Time.
We are incredibly proud of the maturity and depth of thought our Cath Soc Junior students bring to this process. They rise to the challenge every time, helping to ensure that our Morning Prayer is not simply something students listen to, but something that encourages us all to reflect, pray and put our faith into action.
A fantastic first meeting, and we are looking forward to seeing where our Cath Soc Junior students take us this year. 🌟
Also worth celebrating is that the students involved come from across our diverse Student Leadership groups, including Chatter Buddies, Solidarity, Student Council and Cath Soc. It is wonderful to see students bringing their different experiences, ideas and talents together. We have some amazing young people at this College, and we are incredibly proud of their willingness to lead, serve and make a difference. ❤️
