_O believers! When the call to prayer is made on Friday, then proceed ˹diligently˺ to the remembrance of Allah and leave off ˹your˺ business. That is best for you, if only you knew. Quran 62:9_

We are deeply concerned by the disturbing reports emerging from Azad Jammu & Kashmir of protesters being killed and injured during demonstrations. Reports of the use of live ammunition against civilians, alongside restrictions on communications and calls from international human rights organisations for an independent investigation, are deeply alarming.

We unequivocally condemn any use of excessive or unlawful force against unarmed civilians. Legitimate political grievances and calls for reform must be met through dialogue, justice and accountability—not violence.

We urge the Pakistani authorities to exercise restraint, protect the lives and rights of all civilians, and engage in meaningful dialogue with the people of Azad Jammu & Kashmir to address their concerns peacefully. An independent and transparent investigation into the reported deaths and injuries is essential to establish the truth and ensure accountability.

History has repeatedly shown that suppressing the voices of one’s own people through force only deepens division and suffering. Those entrusted with authority must act with wisdom, justice and humility to prevent further loss of life and lasting damage.

We also call upon the international community, human rights organisations and all those with family ties to Azad Jammu & Kashmir to raise awareness of the unfolding situation and to advocate peacefully for the protection of human rights, justice and the dignity of every human being.

Our thoughts and prayers are with all those who have lost loved ones, those who have been injured, and all communities affected by these tragic events. May Allah grant justice to the oppressed, mercy to those who have passed away, and peace and security to the people of Kashmir.

Mubarak to our teacher at Al-Mustafa Centre and Bradford Muslim College, Shaykh Muddassir Ul Haq, who has been bestowed with the title of Shaykh by his esteemed teacher and guide, Shaykh Shaykh Muhammad al-Yaqoubi, in recognition of his dedication and service in teaching and conveying sacred knowledge to the Ummah.

Shaykh Muddassir leads Al-Mustafa Academy, our children’s madrasa, and also teaches our Adult Qur’an programme at Bradford Muslim College. He has been a central part of the Al-Mustafa team for the last 20 years!

We ask Allah Almighty to bless Shaykh Muddassir with sincerity, steadfastness and continued acceptance, to increase him in knowledge and benefit, and to enable him to continue serving the Ummah for many years to come.

It was lovely to welcome Maroof Khan, Head of Cricket at Dixons Academies Trust today to The Mustafa Centre to inform our congregation all about the exciting new Dixons Cricket Academy.

The Cricket Academy has a three-tiered approach — to engage disaffected students through cricket, develop competitive school teams, and provide talented young players from low-income backgrounds with access to elite coaching and opportunities.

An exciting moment that has the potential to break down barriers and create genuine opportunities for young people, giving them access to elite coaching, high-quality facilities and clear pathways into representative and professional cricket—opportunities that have too often been out of reach for people from disadvantaged backgrounds.
