Smile Childcare Ofsted Registered Childcarer I have been a Childminder since 2005. I drop off and pick up from Low Moor Primary School only.

My name is Shirley Downs and I am an Ofsted Registered Childminder, providing home based childcare in a safe, healthy, happy setting. I believe in the value of learning through play, that children learn best through play activities through which, combined with following the Early Years Foundation Stage, I aim to support every child's individual development, giving them the confidence to achieve to their full potential. Our activities are varied and include music making, arts and crafts, painting, baking, dress up, role play, story time, rhyme time, yoga and many outings to local parks, woods, museums and places of interest. Children are offered a choice of cereals, fruit, toast for breakfast. Lunch is a cooked meal such as shepherd’s pie, fish fingers, chicken breast with noodles, spaghetti bolognese, pasta and meatballs. There is a snack at tea time, things such as sandwiches, sausage rolls, crumpets, hot dogs. I have completed the following training to help me give children the best care I can, and to keep up to date with current regulations:
Ofsted Standards Course, Paediatric First Aid Course, Food Hygiene Course
ICP (Introducing Child Minding Practice) Course at Bradford College
DCP (Developing Child Minding Practice) 1 year course at Bradford College. Diploma in Child Care in a Home Based Setting – Level 3

Hourly rate - £4.55
Before school place - £9.00
After school place - £12.00

Our Story

My daughter Kerri is registered with Ofsted as my assistant and works with me, She has a boxer dog called George who is sometimes present at the house. Our activities are varied and include action figures, arts and crafts, outdoor toys, balls, swingball, hoops, painting, baking, dolls, dress up, role play, reading and many outings to local parks, woods, museums and places of interest. Children are offered a choice of cereals, fruit, toast for breakfast. Lunch is a cooked meal such as shepherd’s pie, fish fingers, chicken breast with noodles, spaghetti bolognese, pasta and meatballs.
