Our Story

My name is Shirley Downs and I am an Ofsted Registered Childcarer, providing home based childcare in a safe, healthy, happy setting. I have been operating since 2005

My home is a back to back terrace with a small front yard. My daughter Kerri is registered with Ofsted as my assistant and works with me, She has a boxer dog called George who is sometimes present at the house.

Our activities are varied and include action figures, arts and crafts, outdoor toys, balls, swingball, hoops, painting, baking, dolls, dress up, role play, reading and many outings to local parks, woods, museums and places of interest.

Children are offered a choice of cereals, fruit, toast for breakfast. Lunch is a cooked meal such as shepherd’s pie, fish fingers, chicken breast with noodles, spaghetti bolognese, pasta and meatballs. There is a snack at tea time, things such as sandwiches, sausage rolls, crumpets, hot dogs.

I have completed the following training to help me give children the best care I can, and to keep up to date with current regulations:
Ofsted Standards Course, Paediatric First Aid Course, Food Hygiene Course
ICP (Introducing Child Minding Practice) Course at Bradford College
DCP (Developing Child Minding Practice) 1 year course at Bradford College
Diploma in Child Care in a Home Based Setting – Level 3 - Graded A
