England hockey star Alice celebrates exceptional GCSE Art success

BGS student and England hockey player, Alice M, is celebrating an outstanding set of GCSE results after achieving one of the highest marks awarded nationally in GCSE Art.

The 16-year-old, from Skipton, achieved a string of excellent results including two 9s and six 8s and is now preparing to study A Level Biology, Chemistry and Economics at BGS Sixth Form from September.

She said: “I’m very pleased with my results, especially after getting a nine in both Biology and Art. I’m happy the hard work paid off and I’m excited to start Sixth Form in September.”

Alongside her studies, Alice has been competing in hockey at national level and training with the Talent Academy, while also playing regularly for Ben Rhydding.

Raj strikes a high note with outstanding GCSE results

A talented BGS violinist is celebrating an impressive set of GCSE results after balancing his passion for music alongside a full academic programme.

Raj A was thrilled to receive eight 9s and two grade 8s when he arrived at Bradford Grammar School (BGS) to collect his results, as well as securing a Distinction in EMC (Further Maths).

Raj, 16, of Halifax, said: “I’m so happy with my grades and can’t believe it. I’m thankful to BGS for their commitment in making sure we enjoy our lessons and learn well. The staff have helped me fall in love with all subjects and have challenged me to grow in the best way.”

Ayaan scores big both on and off the field

A talented Derbyshire cricketer is celebrating a strong set of GCSE results while continuing to pursue his dream of reaching the highest level in the sport.

Ayaan A, who has balanced his academic studies at BGS with an intense cricket training schedule, today discovered his hard work had paid off after securing five grade 9s and a string of 8s in his GCSEs.

Ayaan, of Bradford, said: “I’m so happy with my results, the hard work has truly paid off. I began preparing for my GCSEs in the summer after Year 10, and it was worth it. I’m grateful BGS pushed me to achieve my best, especially while balancing cricket, competitions and academics.”

Venus celebrates GCSE success as she targets England U19 World Cup

Bradford Grammar School student Venus W is celebrating her GCSE results after a breakthrough season in senior cricket saw her emerge as one of Lancashire’s rising stars.

The 16-year-old leg-spinner achieved a string of grade 7s and 8s, equivalent to As and A*s, in her GCSEs and will remain at BGS Sixth Form, where she plans to study Business, Economics and PE.

Venus said: “I’m so pleased with my results. I was grateful to join BGS with my cricket scholarship and I wouldn’t have been able to do any of this without them and their constant support. I’m really looking forward to studying my A Levels here.”

More than 27 per cent of Bradford Grammar School GCSE grades are 9s

BGS achieved some of its best GCSE grades in its 475-year history today with more than 27 per cent awarded being a top grade 9.

Students at Bradford Grammar School were celebrating their hard work after 52 per cent of grades were a 9-8, up two per cent on last year, and 74 per cent were 9-7s, equivalent to A*/A and up three per cent on last year. Several talented students at the school achieved grade 9s across the board.

Dr Simon Hinchliffe, Headmaster at Bradford Grammar School, said the grades were the highest in the school’s history barring the ‘Covid’ years.

“While our students have done incredibly well this year, the results reflect a consistent level of high performance across the years. Many have balanced commitments such as elite sporting demands or musical performances alongside their academic pursuits so it’s particularly pleasing to see them rewarded with excellent grades today.

“We’re very proud and look forward to welcoming them to our Sixth Form in September.”

Eva pursues professional acting dreams in Manchester

Talented young actress Eva S is heading to Manchester to pursue her film and television dreams.

Eva was delighted with her A Level results in Drama, Politics, Psychology and AS Level Music Technology and will take up her place at The Arden School of Theatre in Manchester in September.

The 18-year-old, who is represented by the casting agency, Articulate, said: “Everything has turned out so well with my results. BGS has been incredibly supportive with helping me succeed, through training, helping with auditions and allowing vocal rest when I needed it. I’m so excited for my next steps of working towards being an actress.”
