🌟 FRIDAY ASSEMBLY | WHY RULES MATTER 🌟

Last week’s assembly explored a question students can all relate to: Why do rules actually matter?

⚖️ Students reflected on how good rules are not simply about control. They help to protect fairness, rights and safety, while reminding us that rights also come with responsibilities.

🏫 We explored the Rule of Law as a British Value and connected this with our Islamic ethos: justice, accountability, fulfilling responsibilities and respecting the rights of others.

💭 Students were encouraged to think critically about rules, understand the reasons behind them, and recognise how their own choices contribute to a safe, respectful and fair school community.
At EGHS, we want our girls not simply to follow good rules, but to understand why they matter.

🧁💚 MACMILLAN CANCER SUPPORT BAKE SALE 💚🍰

Our students and staff came together for a wonderful Macmillan Cancer Support Bake Sale, helping to raise funds for people living with cancer and their families. 🎗️💚

🌍 Making a positive contribution to the wider community

It was a lovely opportunity for our girls to put compassion, generosity and service to others into practice. 🌟

A huge Jazaakumullaahu Khayran to our parents and everyone who baked, donated, bought treats and helped make the bake sale a success. 🤲💚

🛡️ Week 4 Assembly | Your Voice Matters

Our whole-school assembly focused on strengthening our safeguarding culture and helping every pupil understand that she has the right to feel safe, valued and heard at school.

☝️ We began with Allaah’s command:

“Indeed, Allaah commands justice and good conduct… and forbids immorality, bad conduct and oppression.” Qur’an 16:90

✴️ Our pupils explored what safeguarding looks like in everyday life, including trusted adults, personal boundaries, safe surprises and unsafe secrets, child-on-child harm, and how to report a concern.

📌 A key message was simple: speaking up is a strength, not a weakness. Pupils were reminded that concerns should never be dismissed as “just banter”, and that if something does not feel right, whether it affects them or somebody else, they should tell a trusted adult.

👉 The assembly also reinforced individual liberty, mutual respect and personal responsibility, encouraging our girls not only to protect their own boundaries but to look out for one another.

🌱 A strong safeguarding culture is not built by policies alone. It is built when pupils know they will be listened to, taken seriously and supported.
Your voice matters. Speak up. Be heard. Help keep each other safe.

🎓 Special Assembly | ASDAN Youth Mentoring Course

Today we were delighted to recognise our Year 11 students who successfully completed the ASDAN Youth Mentoring Course. 👏📜

What makes their achievement even more special is that the programme took place during the summer holidays, when school was closed and most pupils were enjoying their well-earned break. Our students chose to give up part of their holiday to develop their mentoring, communication and leadership skills. 🌱💬

At our special assembly, the students were presented with their certificates and gift vouchers in recognition of their commitment and successful completion of the programme. 🎁🏅

A huge thank you to With You and Mr T for providing this opportunity and for supporting and encouraging our students throughout the programme.

Well done to our Year 11s. We hope these skills will benefit them personally and enable them to positively support others too, inn sha Allaah. 🌟

🧪 Science in Action at Edenfield! 🔥✨

There are some experiments that never lose their wow factor, and watching magnesium burn with its brilliant bright-white glow is definitely one of them! 🤩

No sooner we are back, our KS3 scientists have been exploring elements, compounds and chemical reactions, moving from classroom theory and chemical formulae to seeing chemistry happen right before their eyes.

📚 Learning that sticks

Practical science gives pupils the opportunity to observe, question, investigate and connect what they write in their books with the real world.

And judging by the attention around that Bunsen burner, the magnesium certainly had the room captivated! 😄

🌟 Week 2 Assembly | Who Are We Becoming?

Following last week’s welcome-back assembly, our first formal whole-school assembly of the academic year focused on a question that goes much deeper than grades:

Who are we becoming?

🌱 We began with niyyah, intention, and the words of the Messenger of Allaah ﷺ:

“Actions are but by intentions, and every person will only have what they intended.”
📖 Saheeh al-Bukhaari, no. 1

Our pupils were reminded that school is not simply a place to gain qualifications. The same lesson, revision, punctuality, kindness and good conduct can carry a very different value when undertaken with the right intention.

📚 Seek beneficial knowledge.
⏰ Respect time and fulfil responsibilities.
💚 Show kindness because Allaah loves good character.
🤝 Build belonging by including others.
🛡️ Treat our school, its safety, learning and atmosphere, as an amaanah.

Identity is not formed in one dramatic moment. It is built quietly through hundreds of small choices. The person we become by July is already being shaped by the intentions and actions we carry in September.

✍️ Every pupil was therefore challenged to leave the assembly with two things: one sincere intention for this term and one practical habit that will help turn that intention into action.

May Allaah grant our pupils beneficial knowledge, sincerity in their intentions, excellent character and success in this life and the Hereafter. Aameen. 🤲

🌟 Week 1 Assembly | Welcome Back!

Alhamdulillaah, our students returned this week for the start of a new academic year at Edenfield Girls’ High School.

Our first whole-school assembly was about beginning as we mean to continue: together, with gratitude, purpose and high expectations.

🏆 We celebrated our excellent GCSE results, recognising the hard work of our former Year 11 students and the dedication of the staff who taught and supported them.

💜 We also warmly welcomed our new Year 7 students into the Edenfield family.

🎯 We then introduced our Term 1 focus: The Edenfield Way: Proud to Be Edenfield.

Through clear and consistent routines, we want every student to understand what being part of Edenfield looks like, from arriving punctually and being ready to learn, to focused participation in lessons, respectful conduct around school, correct uniform and ending each day positively.

Our message was simple:

Amazing results behind us. Clear expectations ahead of us.

Academic excellence and excellent character go hand in hand. We want our students to carry themselves with discipline, respect, responsibility and a desire to make the very best of the opportunities Allaah has given them.

May Allaah place barakah in this new academic year, grant our students beneficial knowledge, excellent character and success, and reward our staff for their continued efforts. Aameen.
