LIVERPOOL, TICKETS ARE GOING FAST 💫

The World Reimagined presents Triangle of Unity: Liverpool — an evening of film, culture and community honouring Black Liverpool and the people who continue to shape the city and beyond.

Join us at the Museum of Liverpool on Friday 30 October 2026 from 6pm for the premiere of Community: Becoming Black & British – Liverpool, directed by Adi Alfa, followed by a Q&A with the team behind the film.

The evening will also feature screenings of Carnival Chat, directed by Michelle Peterkin-Walker, and Ex-Killer Collective, directed by Leon Lopez.

We’re delighted that the evening will be hosted by Janiece Myers and Michelle Peterkin-Walker, bringing us together for a night celebrating Black stories, creativity, history and community.

And it doesn’t end with the screenings — stay with us for the afterparty, as we celebrate the people who have made this work possible. ✨

Behind every frame of Community Becoming Black & British: Birmingham is a whole community of people giving their time, talent, memories and trust.

Over these filming days, our crew and mentees have been behind the cameras, setting lights, capturing sound, listening closely and learning from every conversation. But the real heart of this film belongs to the people who sat down with us and shared something of themselves.

Stories about Birmingham. Stories about family, culture, belonging, struggle, joy and the communities people have built here.

We’re deeply grateful to everyone who has welcomed us in, spoken with us, worked alongside us and helped make this film possible. There is something powerful about creating the space for people to tell their own stories — in their own voices — and knowing those stories will become part of a bigger record of Black British life.

And to our brilliant crew and mentees: thank you for the care, creativity and energy you’ve brought to every shoot. 💛

Join us on Thursday 29 October for Triangle of Unity – Birmingham, a night celebrating the Black community’s contribution to Birmingham and beyond.

We’ll be premiering Community: Becoming Black & British – Birmingham, directed by Ellis Meade, followed by a Q&A with the film crew.

The evening will also feature short films curated by We Are Parable, with Rakeem Omar of BBC Radio 1Xtra hosting the night, and Black Heritage Walks Network as our co-host of the event.

Bristol, this one’s for you. 📍

September is moving — and there’s plenty happening across the city rooted in Black culture, history, art and sound.

From 50 years of Bristol reggae history and a walk through the city’s relationship with slavery and abolition, to live music connecting Mali, Burkina Faso and Bristol, sharp Black British comedy and major exhibitions landing at Spike Island and Arnolfini.

Some are here for one night. Some are selling fast. Some are gone in a few weeks.

💥 LIVERPOOL! YOUR BLACK BRITISH DAY OUT HAS LANDED. 💥

📍 History! Food! Culture! Community! Activism! ✨

We’ve put together 5 stops for a Black British day out in Liverpool because learning about Black British history doesn’t have to mean sitting in a classroom. Sometimes you’ve got to walk the streets, eat the food, meet the places and follow the stories. 📼⭐

Start at the Museum of Liverpool and follow the Black Community Trail, discovering some of the people and communities who have helped shape the city for generations.

Then it’s time for the important stuff… LUNCH. 😋 Head to Raggas Caribbean Cafe on Smithdown Road for Caribbean comfort food, family recipes and flavours carrying stories of home from one generation to the next.

Next stop: Liverpool 8. Explore Granby Four Streets, where residents fought for their neighbourhood, organised from the ground up and turned community action into nationally recognised change. ✊🏾

Then head over to Kuumba Imani Millennium Centre — born from the organising of Liverpool Black Sisters and continuing a legacy of Black creativity, education, enterprise and community. 💜

And finish in Princes Park at the Nelson Mandela Memorial a place connecting Liverpool 8 to the struggle against apartheid and reminding us what organised communities can achieve.

BlackFest 2026 kicks off at Granby Market on 5 September, with more visual art, workshops, music and community events coming through September and October. Lemn Sissay comes to Liverpool Cathedral on 9 October, and BlackFest takes over Sefton Park Palm House on 11 October.

Community Becoming Black & British Liverpool has been made with care, trust, generosity and a whole lot of love. 💜

We want to say a huge thank you to our brilliant crew, our mentees, our partners, and especially every person who welcomed us in, gave us their time and trusted us with their memories, experiences and stories.

This work means a great deal to us because these stories matter. They hold our histories, our communities, our struggles, our joy and the ways we have shaped Britain — often in places and through people that don’t always get the recognition they deserve.

We love doing this work: creating space for people to speak for themselves, bringing generations together, supporting new creative talent and making sure Black British stories are documented, celebrated and carried forward.

To everyone who has been part of Liverpool so far: thank you. This film belongs to a much bigger community than the people behind the camera, and we can’t wait to share what you have helped us create. 🎥✨

01. Begin at Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery with Christopher Samuel’s Watch Us Lead exhibition.

02. Stop for lunch at a Black-owned Birmingham restaurant.

03. Explore the contemporary murals of Lozells and the stories they tell about community, identity and activism.

04. Head to Handsworth Park and discover the Benjamin Zephaniah mural — with plenty of time for art, poetry and play.

05. Finish at the Legacy Centre of Excellence in Aston, a community-rooted home for Black arts, culture, creativity and business.

A day for learning, eating, talking, playing and experiencing some of the people and places shaping Birmingham’s Black British story.
