Iβm delighted to announce that our little boy, Otis, finally made his arrival on Saturday morning. We are both doing really well, and his big brother couldnβt be prouder. π
I hope everyone is keeping well, and Iβm very much looking forward to seeing you all again one day when things have settled. Thank you for all your continued support, it means so much.
Replies to messages and enquiries may be a little slower than normal at the moment, but if anyone needs to speak to someone urgently, please contact Louise or Hannah, who are kindly taking over while I am away.
Wishing you all a magical and memorable Christmas. πβ¨

As a tutor, I see every day just how powerful play can be in helping children grow, learn, and develop a true love for learning. The Early Years framework already highlights the importance of play, yet many schools reduce opportunities for it once children enter Key Stage 1.
A new government petition is calling for play and continuous learning to become statutory in the KS1 curriculum. This would ensure that children aged 5β7 continue to learn in ways that nurture curiosity, creativity, and confidence, rather than moving too quickly into a formal, test-driven system.
Play-based learning isnβt βjust playβ β it builds problem-solving, language, social skills, resilience, and imagination. By embedding it into KS1, we give children the foundations they need for lifelong learning and wellbeing.
If you believe that play matters, please consider signing and sharing the petition.
Thanks for reading,
Fern.

Petition: Make Play and Continuous Provision statutory in England's Key Stage 1 Curriculum
Revise statutory guidance for KS1 to make play based pedagogy a core part of the Key Stage One National Curriculum, extending the best practice that we see in Early Years to ensure all Key Stage One children continue to have a developmentally appropriate play based approach to their learning.

I am so unbelievably proud of my Year 6 students this week. SATs week is undoubtedly the most stressful time for Year 6βs but from what I have heard, theyβve all taken it in their stride.
You have worked so hard to get to where you are now and I am so proud of you, it really has been a pleasure supporting you all.
Your best is always enough for me. I canβt wait to celebrate with you all next week. π₯³
