It’s been an exciting day with lots of lovely messages coming in about exam results — and it’s always great to hear how students have done after all their hard work.

One question I’ve been asked a few times today is: “What do the new number grades actually equate to in the old letter grades?”

So, I thought I’d put together a quick guide to make it easier to see how the grading systems compare.

Photos from Tes magazine's post 15/08/2026

This TES article provides a useful breakdown of the results, including differences by gender, region and school type, including state-funded and independent schools.

It also brings together some practical next steps, with information on what to do if you think your results are incorrect, including the appeals process, as well as guidance on University Clearing if you haven’t secured your first-choice university place.

A useful read for students and parents navigating the next steps today.

Maths Anxiety - Tutor Tailor 20/05/2026

On National Numeracy Day, we celebrate the importance of numbers in everyday life but also recognise that for many people, numeracy can come with feelings of fear, stress, and self-doubt.

Maths anxiety is a very real experience that can affect confidence, learning, and even simple day-to-day tasks. Today is an opportunity to open up that conversation, challenge the stigma and remind people that struggling with maths is not a reflection of intelligence and that support can make all the difference. Read our blog for more information.
