How should you present your CV?

· Have your most recent roles at the top

· Include your start month/year and end month/year

· Have a brief summary or bullet points of the role, include the ages of children

· Stick to relevant experiences e.g. childcare roles

· Include your qualifications/certifications

· Keep it brief - no longer than three pages

· Each recruiter has their own preferences

· Keep all versions of your CV

What you do not need…

· Personal information that can lead to fraud or discrimination such as your photo, DOB, location

· Your employers’ full names or contact details (it’s a breach of personal data)

· Full details of jobs from long, long ago. Bullet point them instead, it helps to keep your CV shorter

What to remember…

· A CV is an agency and employers first impression of you

· We read through many CVs each day, you want to stand out, but also be summarised

· CV’s that are too long become time consuming for families to read through. You can always keep a more detailed version to share at a later date

· You can jazz it up as much as you like, with colours, patterns and even photos of activities you do with children. This is more memorable and may show your creativity!

· Check for spelling mistakes!

*When to Start Recruiting*

Ideal Timeline: Begin your search at least 3 months before you need the nanny or housekeeper to start.

Newborn Care: Start looking during your third trimester if you need care immediately. Maternity Nurses often have 8 - 12 week contracts

Notice Periods: Experienced nannies usually must give 4 to 8 weeks' notice to their current employers.

Buffer Time: Aim to hire someone 2 weeks early to allow for a smooth handover and settling-in period, if possible.

Time Away: Consider if you are unavailable during your search. Applicants may also have booked events, allowing less trial times.

Last Minute Search: Don’t leave using an agency as a last resort. Most agencies do not require a fee until after an offer has been accepted. You can still do your own search alongside an agent.

Do your research: Speak to multiple agents to see who is the best fit for you. Look for recruitment longevity, individuality, flexibility and ultimately who seems right for you.

Multiple Agencies: You can use more than one agency, but must be transparent with them all, so not to breach contract.

Word Of Mouth: Spread the word about your positive experiences with both the agency and your nanny
