A little preparation now can make the return to school feel much less overwhelming. Start bringing bedtimes back into routine, check that uniform and equipment are sorted, and spend a few minutes each day reading or revisiting key skills.

Nothing intense. Just a gentle reset before the new term begins.

The final few days before results day can feel longer than the entire exam season.

Your child might seem completely relaxed, unusually quiet or suddenly convinced they’ve failed everything. All of those reactions are normal.

Right now, they don’t need predictions, comparisons or questions about what their friends are expecting. They need to know that whatever is written on that piece of paper, there will still be options and they won’t have to work out the next step alone.

Results matter, but they are one part of a much bigger picture.

A Level results day always feels like a big one.

To every student we’ve worked with, we know how much has gone into getting you to today. The extra sessions, the moments of doubt, the subjects that finally started to click and all the work nobody else saw.

Whatever is written on that piece of paper this morning, be proud of how far you’ve come. And if today doesn’t go quite as planned, please remember that there is always another route forward.

Ever wondered what actually happens to an exam paper once it leaves the exam hall?

This BBC News video gives a look inside AQA’s Milton Keynes operation, where exam papers are processed and scanned ready for marking.

And with around 11 million GCSE, AS and A-level papers to get through, it’s quite the operation.

A really interesting watch for students and parents as we head towards results season.

Exam boards are responsible for marking, with written exams marked by trained examiners and marking carried out anonymously.
