A quick check can catch an easy mistake, especially when you’re rushing.

Asking “how did you work that out?” gives your child a chance to explain their thinking. You might spot something they’ve misunderstood, or realise they understand more than they give themselves credit for.

Next time you’re helping with homework, give it a go. You don’t need to know all the answers to ask a good question.
