Year 11 students at The Cotswold School are celebrating today after achieving one of the finest sets of GCSE results in the school’s history.

The results reflect the determination, resilience and commitment shown by students throughout their time at the school, supported by dedicated staff and families.

Highlights within the 2026 results include:
• 85% of students achieved five or more grades at 4 or above, including English and Mathematics
• 67% of students achieved a strong pass (grade 5 or above) in both English and Mathematics
• 38% of all grades awarded were at grades 7-9

The majority of students will now continue their educational journey at The Cotswold School Sixth Form, while others will move on to a range of exciting opportunities including specialist college courses, apprenticeships and employment pathways.

Headteacher Mr Will Morgan said:
"Today is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the achievements of our Year 11 students. These results are the culmination of years of hard work, perseverance and determination, and we are incredibly proud of everything they have accomplished. Behind every success story is the support of families, the commitment of our exceptional staff and, most importantly, the ambition and resilience of our students themselves. These young people have contributed enormously to school life, not only academically but through sport, the arts, leadership and service to the wider community. We congratulate each and every one of them and look forward to seeing their many successes.”

As they now look ahead to the next stage of their journeys, we are delighted that so many of our students will continue with us in the Sixth Form, while others begin new adventures elsewhere. We wish them all every success and look forward to seeing where their talents, determination and ambition take them in the future.

Year 13 students at The Cotswold School have today received their A Level and Level 3 vocational qualification results, marking the culmination of years of dedication and hard work. Their achievements reflect the impressive commitment, energy, and enthusiasm that each student has demonstrated throughout their courses.

90% of all grades were at A* to C, 64% were either an A*, A or B, and 41% were at A* or A. The overall pass rate was 99.4%.
Many of our students will now move on to universities including Oxford, Exeter, Bristol, Birmingham, Manchester, Durham, Sheffield, Bath, and King’s College London. They will be studying degrees from Law, Biochemistry, Economics and Medicine, to History, Mathematics, Product Design and Spanish. Other Year 13 leavers will take up apprenticeships, employment or travel the world on gap years.

Comments from the Head of Sixth Form and Headteacher:
“Well done to all our Year 13 students for the great results they have achieved today,” said Phil White, Head of Sixth Form. “They all deserve huge credit and can be very proud of the effort and enthusiasm they have given to their studies, particularly over the past two years, but before that as well. They have been outstandingly well taught and guided by the teachers and staff of The Cotswold School, and extremely well supported by their families and friends. It’s a pleasure and a privilege to be part of such a strong community. Not only have our students reached high academic standards, but they’ve also developed many skills and wonderful characters during their time here, that will serve them well in their future journeys. Very best wishes to them all.”

As we come to the end of another fantastic school year, we would like to wish everyone in The Cotswold School community a restful and enjoyable summer break.

This year has been filled with memorable events, exciting trips, outstanding achievements, and excellent learning across all year groups. Thank you to our students, staff, families and wider community for your continued support.

We look forward to welcoming our new Year 7 and Year 12 students on the 2nd September, and the rest of the school on 3rd September, as we begin another exciting year together.

Students from Years 7 and 8 enjoyed an unforgettable trip to the Rheinland region of Germany during the final week of the school year, immersing themselves in the country’s culture, history and stunning scenery.

With beautiful sunny weather throughout the visit, students made the most of the opportunity to experience authentic German life, enjoying visits to two different outdoor swimming pools and sampling a range of delicious German treats. A particular favourite was the traditional Spaghettieis, a uniquely German dessert which proved very popular with the group.

The trip was packed with memorable experiences, including a visit to one of the many impressive castles overlooking the River Rhein, where students learned more about the region’s fascinating history. They also enjoyed a traditional Schnitzel meal at the top of a mountain, explored the city of Koblenz, visited a theme park and challenged themselves on the chair lift, overcoming their fears of heights while taking in the spectacular views.

On the final day, a dedicated group of early risers joined Mrs de Mello for a 5am walk along the banks of the Rhein, creating a special final memory of the trip and enjoying the peaceful beauty of the area.

Throughout the visit, students represented The Cotswold School exceptionally well. They impressed staff with their confidence in using German, embracing opportunities to practise their language skills with locals, and were praised for their excellent behaviour and positive attitude.

A huge well done to all students who took part for making the most of every opportunity and helping to make the trip such a success. Bis September!

On Wednesday and Thursday of Enrichment Week, many of our Year 9 students enjoyed an inspiring educational visit to the University of Birmingham and Birmingham Wildlife Conservation Park.

The day began with a guided tour of the University of Birmingham, where students gained a fascinating insight into university life, the impressive campus and the wide range of opportunities available in higher education. The enthusiasm and knowledge of the student ambassadors shone through, making the experience both informative and engaging. We are incredibly grateful to them for giving up their time to share their experiences with our students.

An additional highlight was the opportunity to explore the University's Lapworth Museum of Geology. Students discovered an incredible collection of exhibits, including dinosaur fossils, volcanic displays and displays exploring human evolution. Some groups were also fortunate enough to step inside the University's magnificent Great Hall, every bit as impressive as its name suggests. Mr White even took the opportunity to show students the exact spot where he sat his Geography degree final examinations back in 1997!

The second part of the trip took students to Birmingham Wildlife Conservation Park. The intimate setting allowed everyone to enjoy close encounters with a variety of fascinating animals while learning about the park's important conservation work, including breeding programmes and collaborations with wildlife organisations to help protect endangered species.

Throughout the day, our Year 9 students were exemplary ambassadors for The Cotswold School. Their impeccable behaviour was praised by both members of the public and the university staff, with one University of Birmingham tour guide commenting, "This is the best behaved group of pupils I have shown around the university this year."

We are incredibly proud of the way our students embraced every opportunity to learn, asked thoughtful questions and represented the school with maturity and enthusiasm. Well done, Year 9, on making the most of such a memorable and enriching experience.

Thirty-four students have successfully completed their Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award expedition, trekking from Hardraw to Reeth through the stunning Yorkshire Dales.

The group began their adventure by tackling Great Shunner Fell on the first day, the highest peak in the area, before making their way down into Keld. Since then, they have continued their journey through the beautiful Swaledale valley, navigating challenging terrain and working together as teams, before completing their final stretch into Reeth tomorrow.

Throughout the expedition, students have demonstrated fantastic teamwork, resilience and independence. They have impressed staff with their navigation skills, with no one getting seriously lost, while also showcasing their creativity with some excellent camp-cooked meals along the way.

The weather has been kind, with beautiful sunshine throughout and temperatures staying below 22°C, providing ideal conditions for a challenging but rewarding expedition.

We will welcome back a group of very tired but incredibly proud students who should take great satisfaction in what they have achieved. Completing a Gold DofE expedition is a significant accomplishment, and every student deserves huge recognition for their determination, teamwork and perseverance.

Congratulations to Chloe!

What an incredible achievement for Chloe, who recently represented Gloucestershire at the National County Hockey Championships in the Under 17s competition. Competing against some of the strongest county teams in the country, Chloe and her teammates delivered an outstanding performance throughout the tournament.

The team won three matches, drew three and lost just one, a fantastic record that reflects their determination, resilience and teamwork. Representing your county at this level is a significant accomplishment, and everyone at The Cotswold School is incredibly proud of Chloe's success.

“For enrichment week at The Cotswold School the teachers have organized lots of activities on the field for students to get themselves stuck into.

Firstly, there was a ‘capture the flag’ Lazer tag in the forest that allowed students to use their teamworking skills whilst having lots of fun. After Lazer tag there was a mobile climbing wall that gave students the opportunity to climb 30ft in the air (which is taller than a standard school bus!). After interviewing some of the people who climbed the wall, we were made aware of how “beautiful” and “scenic” the view of the school and the Bourton village was from the top.

As well as Lazer tag there was also ‘archery tag’ which involved students shooting foam-ended arrows at each other and having barricades and bunkers to hide behind during the matches, which was great for teaching co-ordination and team skills whilst also including everybody taking part.

A few other activities included boxing lessons, dancing, football, and cricket. Students said they loved the widespread of choices and enjoyed the day. Thank you to “

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for this year's Cadence Festival! From fantastic live music and inspiring performances to delicious food, creative arts and a wonderful community atmosphere, it was an evening to remember.

We are incredibly proud of all of our talented students who performed with such confidence and enthusiasm, and we're so grateful to the staff, volunteers, vendors and performers who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make the event such a success.

Thank you also to all the families, friends, alumni and members of our local community who came along to support our students. Your encouragement and generosity helped create such a vibrant and memorable evening.

Events like Cadence Festival showcase the incredible creativity, talent and spirit of The Cotswold School, and we couldn't do it without your support.
