🚣 A strong start to the rowing season!

It was a lovely calm day on the water for the Itchen Junior Regatta on Saturday 3rd October, the first race of our school rowing year.

Skye was up first in her single scull and rowed a fantastic race, looking strong and composed throughout to finish a brilliant 2nd in her final 🥈

Oliver followed against a strong field, battling hard through his semi-final to secure an excellent, close 2nd place 💪

Plenty of positives for both rowers to take into the new season. Well done, Skye and Oliver!

Next up: Weybridge Silver Sculls in London on Saturday 17th October 🌊

Year 6 Taster Day at BCS Senior 💙

Our BCS Prep Year 6 pupils enjoyed a fun-filled Taster Day at BCS Senior, experiencing first-hand what a day at Senior School is like.

From lessons and sport to break time and meeting their Senior School teachers, pupils had the opportunity to explore different aspects of senior school life and enjoy a day together.

A fantastic experience for our Year 6 pupils as they continue their journey through BCS 💙

From Curious Beginnings to Confident Futures 🌱➡️🎓

Izzy joined BCS in Year 1, and even then she seemed to know where she was headed.

Dance has always been part of Izzy's story. She has trained in ballet, tap and modern with Blackwell since the age of two, performing in their annual shows, and she joined our Senior School as a Performing Arts Scholar 💃

Izzy has never been one to just take part. She has performed as an RCA cheerleader, and together with a fellow pupil she set up cheerleading as a new co-curricular activity at BCS. She has also represented the school in sport, and as a Sixth Form Prefect she helped lead events including Sleep Easy.

Now, that early love of caring for others is becoming a career. After a gap year travelling through Asia and Australia 🌏, Izzy will study Physiotherapy at the University of Wi******er 💙

Izzy, from Year 1 to Year 13, you've given so much to our community. We're so proud of you and can't wait to see where your journey takes you next!

Curiosity in action! 🔍🏺

Our pupils became history detectives as they got hands-on with Maya artefacts to uncover clues about this remarkable ancient civilisation🌿

Through careful observation and investigation, they sharpened their historical enquiry skills, asking thoughtful questions and making fascinating discoveries about how the Maya lived, worked and worshipped 🌞

A brilliant way to bring the past to life!

A winning start to the season! 🥇🏊‍♂️

Our junior mixed swim team took FIRST place in both the 4x50m Freestyle and 4x50m Medley Relays at the ESSA Secondary School Team Relays at Millfield School on Wednesday! 👏

Hunter, Taio, Millie and Anneliese also swam personal bests in every race. 💪

The double victory puts the team in a strong position to qualify for the ESSA National Finals in November, so fingers crossed for an invitation! 🤞

Head of Swimming Sam Woodward said: "As well as their performances in the pool, the team represented BCS exceptionally well, demonstrating excellent behaviour, teamwork and sportsmanship, as well as competing with confidence and determination."

Congratulations to all four swimmers, you did BCS proud! 💙

🌳 What does Outdoor Learning look like at BCS Prep? 🌳

When our pupils head outdoors, the whole natural world becomes their classroom. A typical day might include:

Becoming tree detectives, using leaves, bark and seeds to identify native trees 🌿
Learning how to build a fire safely, and why we use natural materials responsibly 🔥
Working in teams to design and build shelters from branches, tarpaulins and rope ⛺

Along the way, they build teamwork, confidence and resilience, and discover a real love for the outdoors 💚
