Proud beyond words for Mrs Arnold. This week she won the Young Carer Champion of the Year award in BCP.

Mrs Arnold- this is so well deserved. Us as a school recognise your kindness, care and dedication in making all of our young carers feel heard and special. You go above and beyond for these children and we all just adore you.

Mrs Arnold will have her head in her hand knowing she’s being praised on social media as she’s not one for attention. But on this occasion we shall ignore her because she deserves this recognition. Below are the words written about her and the reason why she was victorious.

Lorna is one of the most selfless and kind-hearted Young Carer Champions I have had the pleasure of working with. Her warmth and positivity shine through in everything she does. She creates enriching opportunities for young carers, from dance sessions and Forest School experiences to cinema trips and engaging ‘chill and care’ groups. It is clear just how well she knows and values the young carers at Talbot Primary. She also works tirelessly with the wider community to identify and provide additional opportunities and support for the young carers and families she champions as well as the all-important transitional support.
Alongside her many responsibilities, Lorna attends every Young Carer Champion networking and training event, works closely with colleagues to identify and advocate for young carers, and consistently delivers outstanding support, always underpinned by genuine care and kindness. Although she may not realise it, she regularly inspires fellow Young Carer Champions through her dedication, knowledge, ideas, compassion, and unwavering commitment.
When Lorna heard she had been nominated, she thought there must have been a mistake - a response that perfectly reflects the humility and selflessness that make her so deserving of this recognition. Lorna, this was far from a mistake. It is a privilege to recognise everything you do, and an absolute honour to announce you as our BCP Young Carer Champion of the Year. Congratulations, and thank you on behalf of MYTIME for the incredible difference and impact you make to the lives of young carers every single day!

Tonight, our Year 6 pupils proudly gave their parents a fantastic performance of this year’s production.
A huge well done to every child in Year 6 who has worked tirelessly learning lines, creating props and working behind the scenes. Your hard work, dedication and enthusiasm have shone through, and the Year 6 staff couldn’t be prouder of you all. We will miss you so much next year.
Congratulations on an incredible performance of Pirates of the Curry Bean!
We also couldn’t end this post without saying a huge thank you to Mrs Prentice, Mrs Carver and Mrs Rayner. Thank you for all the time, effort and passion you’ve put into creating memories that our children will cherish for years to come. The Year 6 production is always a special part of life at Talbot and something our pupils remember long after they leave.
Finally, well done to the Class of 2026 – you absolutely smashed it! 🌟🏴‍☠️

Because sometimes being a teacher is tough (and currently hot) but it’s the children we do this for and goodness me, it is SO worth it. Part 1.

Yesterday we had a lovely musical experience at school. Cheikh Diop, a Senegalese master drummer, came to give a workshop to year 2 and year 4. We had a fantastic time trying out all the Djembe drums with him, learning rhythms and playing together as a group. Mrs Prentice even got to play the Dunun bass drums!

Henry Moore inspired sculptures created in year 6 today by 6EC and 6SR. The children really enjoyed working with clay again. If they hadn’t done pottery club with Mrs Curtis and Mrs Prout in golden time, then the last time they had used clay was in year 3 when they made pots! Well done year 6!

Congratulations to our Year 6 children on completing your SATs! You have all worked incredibly hard and we are so very proud of every single one of you.

Remember, SATs do not tell you how good you are at sport, how kind you are as a person, how artistic you are, how funny you are, or how loving and caring you are.

At Talbot, we think you are all wonderful, and trying your best is all anyone can ever ask for — and that is exactly what you all did. Well done, Year 6!
