🏆 Talbot Heath Sports Round-Up 🏆

Another fantastic week of sport saw our students competing across netball, tennis, football and swimming, showing determination, teamwork and resilience throughout.

🏐 Monday Our U14 Netball team travelled to Canford for a training session and friendly fixture. The girls gained valuable experience against strong opposition, narrowly losing 31-18.

🏐 Tuesday The U15/16 Netball squad visited BSG, providing an excellent opportunity for our GCSE PE students to capture match footage for their coursework while competing in a challenging fixture.

🎾⚽ Wednesday A brilliant 6-0 victory over Marlborough College saw our U15 Tennis team secure their place in the Regional Finals this November.

Our U3/L4 Football team opened their season with a competitive 1-1 draw against BCS. Congratulations to Players of the Match, Sophie D and Lily S.

In Bournemouth League netball fixtures against St Peter's, our U14s lost 22-5 and our mixed U15 side were defeated 19-11. Despite the results, both teams demonstrated great effort and commitment.

🏊 Thursday The Talbot Heath Swimming Academy made an outstanding start to the ESSA Swimming Super League at St Swithun's School, Wi******er.

❤️💙 Highlights included: 🥇 12 victories from 16 races 👏 Top-three finishes in every race

🎾 Also on Thursday, our U13 Tennis team defeated South Wilts Grammar School 5-1 away from home, booking their place in the Regional Finals.

👏 Congratulations to all our athletes for representing Talbot Heath with such pride, determination and sportsmanship.

🍂 We are delighted to invite Junior School parents to join us as we celebrate this year's Harvest Festival through music and readings. Tickets are free of charge and available now on our events page on Ticketsource (the link will be in the comments).

This year the event takes place in the Senior Great Hall, which can be accessed via the Old Gym entrance. Refreshments will be provided upon arrival and doors open at 2:30pm.

📍 A Level Geography in Action!

Our Lower Sixth Geographers have been exploring some of South Devon's most fascinating human and physical landscapes on their latest field trip.

From investigating sustainability, community and a unique sense of belonging at Riverford Farm, to analysing the impact of winter storms on the coastline at Torcross, students have been applying classroom learning to real-world geographical challenges.

Today, the group headed to Totnes to explore place identity, carrying out field sketches, questionnaires, sense-scapes and clone town surveys to understand what makes the town such a distinctive place.

Along the way, they've developed valuable fieldwork skills, collected data and demonstrated excellent teamwork, curiosity and enthusiasm.

✨ Believe in Me, A Magical Reflection

This week, Year 6 were set the challenge of writing a letter to themselves, reflecting on everything they have learned since joining primary school and the advice they would give themselves for the year ahead.

As they shared their thoughts, some powerful themes emerged. Across the year group, they reminded themselves to be kind, be brave, embrace every opportunity and never be afraid of making mistakes.

📝 Year 6 then showed off their letter-writing and handwriting skills by creating special letters inspired by the famous Hogwarts acceptance letters from Harry Potter. These beautiful pieces of work have become part of our very own "Believe in Me" display, celebrating self-belief, resilience and the exciting journey that lies ahead.

The display is a wonderful reminder that sometimes the most important person to encourage is yourself.

The week ended with our weekly 1% Club quiz, where they solved riddles, cracked tricky puzzles and tackled a range of challenges that tested their logic, reasoning and problem-solving skills.

As part of our Wellbeing Wednesday programme, students can choose from a range of activities designed to support their wellbeing and personal development. One of our exciting new additions this year is Junk Journaling.

Junk journaling is the creative art of transforming photographs, memories, keepsakes and decorative materials into unique, personalised journals. It provides students with a relaxing space to express themselves, develop their creativity and reflect on the things that matter most to them.
