Happy st. Patrick's Day 🇮🇪
We've had so.much fun celebrating at Top Bananas!
We started by introducing the children to why the day is special and who st.patrick was, promoting the children's language and communication skills and introducing new words such as leprechaun and shamrock ☘️
We extended this learning with lots of invitations to play:
Green gloop, encouraging the children to talk about colour, texture, as well as lots of pouring and mixing! 🇮🇪
We made our own shamrocks from play dough 🇮🇪
We made fluffy green paint and painted our shamrocks ☘️
We made beautiful colourful rainbow's 🌈
The children loved a game of finding and counting various items hidden in a messy tray 🇮🇪
All finished off with a spot of Irish dancing! 💚

🔬🧪 Science Week with our Baby Bananas! 🍌
This week the Baby Bananas had lots of fun taking part in some exciting science experiments. Our little learners loved exploring, observing and discovering new things!
We started by making bubbles using water and bubble mixture. Practitioners blew through straws into colourful cups, creating big bubbles that rose up into the tray. The babies watched closely as the bubbles grew and popped – they found this fascinating! 🫧
Another experiment involved oat milk, food colouring and cotton pads in different shapes. As the cotton pads were placed into the milk, the colours spread and created beautiful patterns for the babies to watch and explore. 🎨
The babies also enjoyed using pipettes with baby oil, water and food colouring. We dropped the colourful water into the tray of oil and watched as the droplets formed little circles and moved around. The babies loved observing how the colours travelled through the tray.
A wonderful week full of curiosity, sensory exploration and fun – we may have some little scientists in the making! 👩🔬

Thank you 🙏🏼 to Chester for bringing in Lola 🐶 and Amber for bringing in Barbara ☺️
The children enjoyed learning all about them 🥰
and sharing pictures of their pets they have at home 🏡
“Children can benefit from animals to foster emotional development, teaching empathy, responsibility, and compassion while reducing stress and anxiety. Pets provide unconditional companionship, boosting self-esteem and social skills. Furthermore, interacting with animals encourages physical activity and can strengthen immune systems”

Today we had a special visit from nurse Jess 🥼
Jess works as a specialist nurse at Bournemouth hospital, and came along to speak to the children in connection with our people who help us theme. 💕
The children were completely captivated, and loved hearing all about how nurses help us. They were excited to listen to a heartbeat with a real stethoscope 🩺 have a bandage applied to a "broken" arm or leg 🩹and have their ears looked at with a special shiny light!
👂
All the children were an absolute joy, Jess commented on how well behaved and articulate the children at Top Bananas are.
🍌 The practitioners are very proud of our bananas for being so polite, confident and engaging! 👏👏👏
The children carried what they had learnt throughout the afternoon, where they continued to role play, caring and showing compassion to one another whilst applying bandages and taking turns to be the nurse

Toddlers finished off a lovely week full of learning about kindness and friendships 💝 by celebrating "national love your pet day" 🐕😺
We enjoyed looking at photographs of our children's pets, (thankyou parents for sharing them with us!) we were able to use this time to encourage conversation and language skills, giving each child the opportunity to talk about the pets they have at home, and to listen to their friends 💑
We had a very special visit from Barbara the guinea pig🎉 The children were completely mesmerized, by her, showing how calm and gentle they could be 💕

Today toddler room had a wonderful trip to the local park 🏞️ taking the opportunity to enjoy the lovely spring sunshine 🌞
We started our adventure colour spotting whilst walking, where we encouraged the children to find different colours in our environment , pointing out and finding different colours on cars, houses and growing naturally🚗 🌳🏵️
Once at the park the children were able to practice gross motor skills, running, climbing and exploring. The slide and swings were a huge hit with lots of big smiles and laughter 🛝
The practitioners were very impressed with the teamwork shown when using the roundabout, when the children took it in turns to push their friends and being very proud of themselves when the roundabout moved around! 😊

Last week in our baby room we celebrated National Story Telling Week by bringing stories to life through sensory play 📚✨
Each day we introduced a new book for the children to learn and enjoy together. We shared Elmer, The Tiger Who Came to Tea and The Gruffalo. Our themed tuff trays were full of colours, textures, elephants, tea sets and even water play — and the babies especially loved our “Gruffalo crumble” tuff tray, where they explored different textures and enjoyed some wonderful messy play!
These experiences supported early language development, communication skills and helped to foster a love of books from a young age. It was a fantastic week filled with imagination, exploration and lots of story time fun! 🐘🐯📖

Baby 👶🏽 Room have the arrival of the new wooden sleep pods 😴
Tried and tested by the practitioners 🥰🤣😝
How cute ☺️ are these
“Sleep is critical for babies because it fuels rapid brain development, supports physical growth, and strengthens the immune system.
“During sleep, babies consolidate memory, process information, and release growth hormones. Adequate rest is essential for emotional regulation, reducing irritability, and boosting cognitive development, such as language learning”
