We're changing the way we share π
You might start to notice something a little different about the photographs on our social media pages.
Going forward, we will no longer be sharing identifiable images of children on our public social media.
This year has brought a much greater national conversation about young children and the digital world. New Early Years Foundation Stage requirements introduced in September include, for the first time, a requirement for early years providers to have regard to government guidance around children's screen use.
It got us thinking more widely about our own digital practice.
Children's digital lives aren't only shaped by the screens they use. They're also shaped by what we, as adults, choose to put online on their behalf.
So, we've decided to make a change.
You'll still see little hands getting messy, wellies exploring the garden, backs of heads absorbed in play, creations being proudly made and all those wonderful everyday moments that make nursery special β just without identifiable faces.
Our thinking was also inspired by colleagues at Forres Sandle Manor who recently made a similar decision. Their approach prompted a really positive conversation within our team, and we're grateful to them for being happy for us to acknowledge their inspiration.
We think there's something rather lovely about local education and childcare settings sharing ideas and learning from one another β particularly when it comes to protecting the children we care for.
The children themselves can decide what their digital identity looks like when they're old enough to make those choices.
Until then, we'll do our bit to protect it. π
We'll still share the magic. We'll just share it a little differently.
