Upside down seems to be the best position for ovipositor cleaning when you're a katydid! The ovipositor is used to position the eggs as they're being laid. The giant hooded katydids are a very tidy bunch of orthoptera!
They've been such interesting insects to care for. There's always something interesting going on with them! Their size makes it so easy to see all the intriguing insect behaviors not so easy to spot in some of the smaller invertebrate team!

Gili has celebrated his 16th birthday! He gets more handsome with every year! While he appreciated his puzzle feeder gift, he prefers digging around in the soil and undergrowth in his enclosure, followed by a bath and sunbathe. Happy birthday Gili!
