We're incredibly proud to see Richard welcomed into the Kitchen Porters Club 🎉

Since joining The CRUMBS Project, Richard has worked hard to develop valuable hospitality skills while taking positive steps towards independence. It is a joy for us to nurture Richard's enthusiasm for all aspects of kitchen life 😊

A special thank you to MEIKO and the Kitchen Porters Club for recognising Richard's dedication and creating opportunities that celebrate the vital role kitchen porters play within the hospitality industry.

Congratulations, Richard; that apron has been well earned!

We’re incredibly proud to see The CRUMBS Project featured in the Bournemouth Daily Echo ahead of the Dorset Plane Pull 2026!

For our trainees, taking part is an opportunity to demonstrate strength, resilience, and determination, while challenging assumptions about disability and standing alongside local businesses professionals, staff, and supporters.

This is inclusion in action; we’re showing that everyone deserves the opportunity to fulfil their potential 💙

What a week we're having! Day four of Activities Week took us on a road trip to London with 12 trainees for an exciting visit to the London Science Museum.

From exploring the science behind engines, clocks, and space to discovering the thought-provoking Future of Food exhibition, we embraced our curiosity at every turn. It was a fantastic opportunity to learn, ask questions, and experience science and innovation in a hands-on way.

Days like these help remind us that 'training for independence' doesn't just take place in our kitchen and bakery - it happens where curious minds can roam!

Activities Week is about so much more than creating memorable experiences for our trainees; it’s about building confidence, nurturing friendships, and creating a true sense of belonging as a CRUMBS community.

This year, our wonderful Trustee, Mark, and Emma, generously opened their home to host a summer barbecue and pool party for day three of activities week. Their hospitality created the perfect setting for laughter, meaningful conversations, and delicious food - moments that will stay with us beyond the joy of today itself.

Thank you, Mark and Emma, for making us feel so welcome and for helping create such a special day 💙

Day two of activities week saw five of our trainees visit Step and Stone, an inspiring Bristol-based bakery that shares many of the same values as The CRUMBS Project.

While Step and Stone specialises in producing a small range of award-winning artisan products for the public, their mission of creating inclusive and meaningful opportunities closely reflects our own commitment to inclusion and social change.

Our trainees rolled up their sleeves and got involved in every stage of making Step and Stone's delicious Rosemary & Sea Salt lavosh flatbreads. Just as importantly, they spent time chatting, working alongside, and learning from the team.

What a fantastic day! We're so grateful to Step and Stone for their warm welcome. Together, we're proving that when opportunity meets potential, incredible things happen 💙

A huge thank you to Country Fare Foodservice for welcoming us behind the scenes to see how their fresh produce operation works on day one of our jam packed activities week 😊

The highlight? An authentic Japanese cooking masterclass from Taiga Shimizu of Nihon Shokken, where our trainees discovered new techniques and chatted through different ways to build a Japanese-inspired menu.

A special thank you to everyone at Country Fare for your generosity and ongoing support of The CRUMBS Project. It was an inspiring experience our trainees won't forget!

Staff Training Week ✅

From darting around Dorset on a team quest to stepping outside our comfort zones with unique presentation challenges, this week has been all about learning, growing, and supporting one another.

We also put our baking skills to the test in an epic Victoria Sponge Cake Showdown!

Throughout it all, we cheered each other on, embraced new challenges, and strengthened our communication and teamwork. Every activity was an opportunity to build skills that will help us provide the very best support for our trainees at The Crumbs Project.

Our Summer Fair was filled with fun and community spirit. Alongside an incredible showcase of talented local craftspeople, visitors enjoyed our popular tombola stall, a delicious cake sale, and the launch of our new CRUMBS merchandise.

Thanks to the generosity of everyone who attended (including Mayor Roberto Rocca), donated, volunteered and supported the event, we raised just short of £1,000 for The CRUMBS Project. Every pound raised will help us continue making a positive difference in the lives of the people we support.

More than just a fundraiser, the day was a wonderful opportunity to share a little CRUMBS joy with our local community; a celebration of kindness and connection. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who helped make the day a memorable success 💛
