'Lighthouse Youth Theatre – Launching In September!

Lighthouse in Poole is launching a brand-new Youth Theatre in September that will give young people in our region the chance to have fun, build confidence and get creative through theatre and performance.

Led by a team of friendly theatre making professionals, Lighthouse Youth Theatre will meet weekly in Poole from September during term-time and is an ideal way for young people to develop their theatre skills and make new friends.

Youth Theatre members will also have the amazing opportunity to step out onto the stage at Lighthouse and perform to family and friends, as part of an annual showcase.

Membership of Lighthouse Youth Theatre gives access to exclusive ticket discounts, backstage tours and special workshops. Members will also be part of our creative community, giving them the chance to meet other people who love performing and theatre.

You don’t need to audition and no experience is required – but you need to hurry, as places are strictly limited – and selling fast!

Our regional music hub, the South Coast Music Partnership (SCMP), is seeking a freelance Project Manager for a 3 year project. The closing date is 6 August 2026, with interviews scheduled for 27 August 2026.

We’re seeking an experienced and motivated candidate to lead the delivery of 'The Rap Project', an exciting Paul Hamlyn Foundation-funded project focused on youth voice, creativity and innovation in music education. Working with schools, young people, practitioners and partners across the region, you will coordinate project activity, manage stakeholder relationships, oversee delivery and support the achievement of project outcomes.

We are looking for someone with:

• Proven project management experience.
• Strong organisational and communication skills.
• Experience of working with multiple stakeholders and partners.
• Knowledge of education, arts, music education and/or youth engagement.
• Experience of monitoring, evaluation and reporting.
• A commitment to youth voice, inclusion and collaborative working.

Much of the role can be done on a work from home basis - though some travel will be essential - and timings can also be fairly flexible.

Alan is the Head of Commercial Services for the Students Union at Bournemouth University, a charity that raises funds through its commercial activity to spend on student support, advice, and group activity.

Alan is currently the chair of Bournemouth TownWatch and a board member of the Bournemouth Town Centre Business Improvement District (BID).

He believes in strong mutual relationship between cultural development and economic development. The enrichment, education and expression that the arts improves communities, builds aspiration and this boosts the economic performance of towns and cities.

As part of his role Alan has overseen the development of outdoor events and festivals, grass roots touring live music and has been an active campaigner for broadening the cultural night time offer in Bournemouth.
