Update:
Buttons Bear paid a visit to our new setting yesterday to see how things were progressing! During his visit, Buttons helped the builders with plastering and added the finishing touches to our safe and secure garden area. He helped with a bit of painting and checked out the new kitchen!
We look forward to sharing further updates with you as we get closer to our exciting move to our new space!
Well done Buttons and all of the other builders who are working hard behind the scenes to create such a special nursery.

This week the children explored space as we spoke about the solar eclipse! In messy play the children used paint brushes to mark make in space dust, creating circles and letters. We read stories about space and the children thought about how they would walk on the moon and what they could see and hear on the moon. Children practiced drawing and cutting circles to create their own planets. We used a model to show the children how the eclipse would appear and how to view the eclipse safely. Some of the children viewed the eclipse through special glasses and others through home made viewing boxes.
The children produced some wonderful pictures of the solar system , rockets and comets.

Exciting Progress at Kimberley Road! 🚧

Work is well underway at our new nursery setting on Kimberley Road, and we couldn't be more excited to see everything coming together!

Our builders have been busy transforming the layout of the rooms to create bright, spacious environments where children can learn, play and thrive.

One of the exciting changes is in our preschool room, where we are creating double doors leading directly into the garden. This will allow children to enjoy free-flow play, moving independently between the indoor and outdoor environments throughout the day.

At Woodland Day Nursery, free flow play is a key part of our ethos. It gives children the freedom to make their own choices, follow their interests, and learn in the environment that best suits them.

Our new baby room is also taking shape and will include a separate sleep room, creating a calm, peaceful and safe environment where our youngest children can enjoy the restful sleep they need. This dedicated space will help ensure babies can rest undisturbed, supporting their wellbeing and individual routines.

We can't wait to share more updates as our new setting continues to take shape. Watch this space... exciting things are coming!

Exciting News from Woodland Day Nursery! 🌿

We are delighted to share some exciting news about the continued growth of Woodland Day Nursery!

To allow us to expand our provision and introduce a brand-new baby room, we will be relocating from 5 Harcourt Road,Bournemouth, BH5 2JG to our new home at 11 Kimberley Road, Bournemouth, BH6 5EX. We are hoping to complete the move before January 2027.

This exciting move will allow us to welcome children aged 0–5 years in a beautifully renovated setting designed to inspire learning, play and development. Our new nursery will include a dedicated baby room for up to six children aged 0–2 years, complete with its own secure outdoor garden, alongside a spacious pre-school room for children aged 2–5 years with free-flow access to a large outdoor learning environment.

Our new premises are currently undergoing a full renovation, and we are investing in a range of exciting new resources to create a warm, nurturing and inspiring environment for every child.
We're also pleased to reassure families that all of our wonderful Woodland team will be relocating with us, ensuring the same familiar faces and high-quality care that you know and trust. As we expand, we'll also be recruiting additional staff to support our growing nursery.

We are now registering children aged 0–5 years! 🌿

If you're looking for a nursery place, we'd love to welcome you for a visit to our current setting, where you can meet our team and see all the wonderful things we do each day.
Once the renovations are complete, we will be inviting parents and carers to visit the new setting and see everything it has to offer.

Happy Graduation to all our School Leavers! 🎓

We had a wonderful Graduation Ceremony to celebrate all of our school leavers as they prepare to begin their exciting new chapter at big school. The ceremony was followed by a fun-filled magic show with the amazing Krazy Kev, which everyone thoroughly enjoyed! 🎩

It has been a privilege to watch each and every one of you grow, learn, and flourish during your time with us. We are so proud of all that you have achieved and know you will continue to shine in your new schools.

We wish you all the very best for the future. Good luck at big school, we know you'll do amazing things!

💙 Happy Father's Day! 💙

A big thank you to all the fathers who attended our Father's Day event. We hope you enjoyed the delicious treats that the children lovingly created for you.

The children have been hard at work preparing for the celebration, making Father's Day cards and pictures. They have been so excited about the event that we even created a countdown, which the children have enjoyed ticking off each day in anticipation.

Thank you for joining us and helping to make the day so special. We wish all of our wonderful fathers and father figures a very happy and relaxing Father's Day on Sunday!

Giant dinosaurs took over our garden today! 🦖🦕

The children were thrilled to discover the enormous visitors and quickly got to work caring for them. They made food for the hungry dinosaurs and helped keep their teeth sparkling clean by giving them a good brush!

It was wonderful to see the children's imagination, creativity, and nurturing skills in action as they looked after their prehistoric friends. ✨

World Cup ⚽

The children have been very excited about the start of the World Cup, so we decided to have a penalty shoot-out in the garden! ⚽

All of the children who wanted to take part were able to tell me the first letter of their name so I could write it on the scoreboard. Each child had three chances to score a goal. Everyone did a fantastic job kicking the ball, although we did have a few handballs along the way!

The child who scored the most goals was very proud of their achievements, and we all applauded their efforts. The children then started wondering what they might get as a prize, so we decided to make our own medals.

The children showed great fine motor skills as they carefully cut out circles, used the hole punch, and threaded string through their medals. They were very proud of their creations and enjoyed celebrating their achievements together. 🏅

Tyre Wash Station 🧽

In preparation for the opening of our new preschool in September, Tiny Seeds Preschool we were very lucky to receive some go-kart tyres from South Coast Karting 🏎️✨

Our children absolutely love playing with our go-kart tyres, so we knew these would make a fantastic addition to our new setting. The children have been busy working together to clean them in our tyre wash station, getting them ready to head over to the preschool. 🛞

A huge thank you to South Coast Karting for your generosity, we can’t wait to see the children enjoying them in their new environment! 💚

Happy 100th Birthday to Sir David Attenborough! 🦁🌍

Today we celebrated this very special occasion with a fun-filled day alongside the children, recognising the many years of dedication David has shown to animals and the natural world.

In the garden, we set up “jeeps” for the children to drive as they used their binoculars to spot animals hidden around the garden. We also created a jungle hideout where the children could relax and explore animal books together. 🐘📚

At circle time, we explored the number 100, looking at different ways to make 100 and visually showing the children what the number looks like with objects. We also talked about how old the children are and compared how many birthdays they have celebrated to David’s 100 birthdays, helping the children understand the concept in a meaningful and engaging way.

The children enjoyed lots of small world invitations to play, discovering different animals and habitats, and got wonderfully creative making Andy Warhol-inspired portraits of David alongside paintings of their favourite animals. 🎨🐒

To end our day of celebrations, the children baked cupcakes and enjoyed a lovely al fresco tea party under bunting decorated with their beautiful artwork from the day.

What a fantastic way to celebrate such an inspiring man and his incredible work protecting and educating us about the world around us.
