As England plays their next World Cup match later today, Caterlink has once again been helping us celebrate with some delicious football-themed treats.

Students were able to enjoy a selection of specially decorated muffins and cakes, adding to the excitement of match day and our ongoing World Cup celebrations.

Beyond the Baseline gave a group of Year 8–10 girls at St Peter’s the opportunity to build leadership, teamwork, and confidence through sport.

Paralympic tennis player Louise Hunt joined the girls as part of Beyond the Baseline, an award-winning secondary schools programme and youth initiative delivered in partnership by Youth Sport Trust and the LTA Tennis Foundation. The programme aims to make tennis accessible to everyone while empowering young people through sport.

Through tennis sessions and fun activities, Louise mentored, coached, and encouraged the girls, helping them develop new skills, build confidence, strengthen teamwork, and grow both on and off the court.

The experience inspired the girls to embrace new challenges, support one another, and recognise the positive impact that sport can have on their lives.

A total of 110 Year 10 and Year 12 Business students recently visited Paultons Park to take part in a workshop exploring the marketing strategies the theme park uses to promote its brand and attract visitors.

The workshop, led by the Marketing Manager, was followed by free time in the park to enjoy the rides and attractions while also identifying ways to improve the visitor experience as part of their summer projects.

A huge well done to all the Year 10 and Year 12 students for their excellent behaviour, positive attitude, and enthusiastic participation throughout the trip. They were a credit to St Peter's.

Year 10 GCSE Citizenship has been making a real difference in the local community through a range of self-chosen projects designed to support others and improve our local spaces.

One group focused on supporting older members of the community, explaining that they "decided it was important to help people in an older age group." After contacting local garden centres, they received generous donations of wildflower seeds from Ferndown Plant Office, Stewarts and Hillier Garden Centre. The seeds were then donated to Primrose Lodge care home, where residents can plant them and enjoy watching them grow and blossom for years to come.

Another group created an informative car insurance guide aimed at sixth form students. Recognising that many young people will soon be insuring their first vehicles, the students researched the topic and produced a poster that brings together key information in a clear and accessible format.

Other students worked with Liz, our Chaplain, with the idea of brightening up the school with donated seeds from Stewarts Garden Centre for a planting project around the school. Reflecting on their work, they said, "The project has gone really well and is going to be successful overall,"

Meanwhile, another team organised a clean-up of an underpass in Boscombe, removing graffiti and helping to improve the local environment. The students were proud that "there is now no graffiti on the walls." Local businesses were also grateful, Meyrick Cleaning donated supplies for the project, while Luxplay Arcade rewarded the team's efforts with 500 free credits each. Tom Hayes MP also praised the students' efforts, writing that "The subway looks so much better" and commending the "community spirit and effort involved." He concluded by stating that "Bournemouth depends on excellent, dedicated young men such as yourselves."

These projects highlight the creativity, initiative and community spirit of our students, whose efforts have benefited people of all ages and made a positive difference in the local community.

To celebrate the World Cup, Caterlink will be hosting a football-themed day on Wednesday 17 June, across both school canteens. They will be decorated with a football theme, and there will be special themed desserts on offer. At Primary, Iced football-themed cakes will be available as part of the dessert of the day. And at Secondary, Football-themed cupcakes will be available to purchase.

Throughout the World Cup there will be additional themed treats and activities. We will keep you updated as match days and special events approach.
We look forward to joining in the excitement of the tournament and hope the students enjoy the celebrations.

Arrive between 08:30–08:45 to collect your timetable and begin an exciting introduction to Sixth Form life, including taster sessions, meeting staff and students, and exploring the opportunities available at St Peter’s.

Congratulations to our Year 10 boys for winning the Town Football Cup. It was a nail-biting 3-2 win in extra time. Well done to the boys!
