The Nine Night Mystery by Sharna Jackson

Mystery, Year 7+

Last night, Wesley and his friends Josephine and Margot threw their neighbour Rachel a surprise birthday party. This morning, Rachel is dead. And Wesley is the one who finds her body. Rachel's friends throw a traditional Caribbean Nine Night celebration to help guide her soul to the next world. But Wesley, Margot and Josephine don't have time to mourn Rachel. They are determined to find out who did this - and find out what secrets Rachel was keeping.

Where the River Takes Us by Lesley Parr

Adventure, Year 9+

It's February 1974, and working-class families are struggling due to the three-day week. Thirteen-year-old Jason feels the impact deeply as he and his older brother, Richie, try to survive after losing their parents. Richie, unable to make ends meet, is getting involved with the wrong people. They live in constant fear of separation. To distract himself, Jason clings to the urban legend of a wild cat known as The Beast that roams the valleys. When his friends learn about a reward for proof of its existence, they convince Jason that capturing it could solve their problems and keep them together. Thus begins their quest.

Young Gothic by M.A. Bennet

Horror – Gothic, Year 10+

Eve, Griffin, Hal, and Ren embark on an unforgettable summer at Villa Diodati, the birthplace of Gothic horror. Mysterious events unfold as their creations come to life, leading to a climax when one guest is found dead. Each becomes a suspect in the gruesome murder. What was meant to be the trip of a lifetime turns into a fight for survival. Will they make it out alive?

Throughout May, students in Years 7 to 10 took part in our exciting Caught You Reading Inter-Tutor Challenge, competing to see which tutor group could be caught reading the most times.

Over the four weeks, there was fantastic enthusiasm, friendly rivalry, and a real commitment to reading across the year groups. The scores were incredibly impressive, and we are delighted to announce the results.

Third Place
A huge well done to 7ED, who finished with an excellent 150 points!

Second Place
Congratulations to 8ED, our worthy runners-up, who collected an amazing 182 points!

First Place
A massive congratulations to 7FR, who stormed to victory with an outstanding 200 points! Their lead proved impossible to catch, making them this year's deserving champions.

To celebrate their achievement, the winners enjoyed a special breakfast treat and received a certificate, along with a collection of books to add to their classroom library.
Thank you to everyone who took part and helped make this year's challenge such a success.

We hope you enjoyed the competition and, most importantly, discovered even more reasons to enjoy reading.
Remember, whether in school, at home, or on the go, keep reading and keep getting caught!
