As part of Black History Month, students have been learning about this year’s theme, Honouring Our Communities.
Through assemblies, students have explored the incredible contribution that African and Caribbean communities have made to Britain, including the powerful story of the Windrush Generation and the lasting impact their resilience, culture and achievements continue to have today.
The learning has also encouraged students to reflect on the importance of respect, equality and belonging, linking closely to our REACH values and the role each of us plays in creating a positive and inclusive community.
Black History Month provides a valuable opportunity to celebrate the people and stories that have helped shape our society, while inspiring our young people to appreciate diversity, challenge prejudice and recognise the strength that comes from bringing communities together.
We are proud of the thoughtful discussions taking place across the academies as students continue to learn from the past and consider how they can make a positive difference in the future.
