The children have enjoyed watching our caterpillars grow this week .. we can’t wait to see them turn into butterflies.

Our book of the month through July is the very hungry caterpillar 🐛

Our children are doing a great job growing our fruit , vegetables and herbs 🪴 we have eaten lots of the mini cucumbers and can’t wait to make tomorrow pasta soon .

We love any opportunity to eat outside. But please remember a BBQ and the ground underneath it can stay hot enough to cause a serious burn for a long time after it’s been used.

So, stay alert and keep children well away from the cooking area until it’s completely cooled.

Today we explored the cucumber plant and sunflowers we have been growing, the children used magnifying glass to explore the plants we found the flowers roots, we listened to a non fiction book about how flowers grow we learnt plants need water sun and air and they make their own food. The children learnt the main parts of the flower , roots, stem, leaves, flower head.

We counted how many cucumbers we could see growing we counted 14.

We explored the cucumber that was picked yesterday , we used our senses to touch and taste and smell the cucumber we saw the skin flesh and seeds and used words to describe what it felt like.

The children all gave the cucumber a thumbs up.
