Congratulations to the 7 students from years 7 and 8 who sat the Kangaroo follow-up round.
They had already achieved a Gold certificate in the Junior Math Challenge held on 29th April , which meant they were already ranked in the top 8% of those taking part across the UK.
Shree P from year 8 scored a massive 119 out of 135 and achieved a Gold Certificate as well as being Best in School.
Well done also to the other students who were Katie F, Emily W (Silver certificates), Akkshetha J, Yakksh*ta S, (Bronze) and Aisha M, Allegra R (Qualification).
That wraps up another year of successes for the UKMT Maths competitions organised by Leeds University.
We look forward to another successful year next year.

Congratulations to our eight Sixth Form CCF cadets who spent the weekend at Netheravon, Wiltshire, completing static-line parachute training.
After patiently waiting for the wind to ease, conditions improved on Sunday morning, allowing the cadets to successfully take to the skies and complete their jumps.
This was an incredible achievement and we are immensely proud of their commitment and the way they embraced this exciting challenge.
Well done to all involved! 🪂

Ellen recently won the Junior category (under-17s) of the Music at Beaulieu Award and performed in the award-winners’ and finalists’ concert this weekend.
She was awarded £600 to support her musical training, and the concert was a wonderful experience for her.
It was a busy and exciting weekend for Ellen, as she also took part in a PSYM cello masterclass - an amazing opportunity that she thoroughly enjoyed.
Ellen has embraced all the oppertunities within the music department at BSG and is really developing a love for her music.

Congratulations to BSG alumna Frances Hand on being selected as one of the BBC and AHRC’s New Generation Thinkers 2026!
Chosen from a highly competitive national field, Frances joins an outstanding cohort of early-career researchers recognised for their ability to bring fresh ideas and cutting-edge humanities research to wider public audiences through the BBC. The prestigious programme provides opportunities to work with BBC Radio 4 producers, develop broadcasting skills, and share research with listeners across the UK.
Frances was interviewed on BBC Fours Womens hour yesterday on the topic of womens obstetrics experiences and how her research aims to make child birth safer for women in the UK.
We are delighted to see Frances receiving this well-deserved recognition and look forward to following her journey as part of the New Generation Thinkers programme.

Our Year 12 students are at the Big Bang Showcase at the NEC today, presenting their STEM project on carbon monoxide.
It was a fantastic opportunity to share their ideas, demonstrate their skills, and engage with other young innovators and industry professionals.
Good luck to the team as they share their ideas and represent the school at this exciting national STEM event!
