BSG GCSE Students Celebrate Outstanding Results!

We are incredibly proud of our GCSE students, who have once again achieved an excellent set of results.
Over 60% of grades were awarded at 7-9.  99% of grades were awarded at 4 or above.

A special congratulations to our highest achievers:
🌟 Connie Hermer achieved an incredible ten Grade 9s
🌟 Penny Hughes achieved nine Grade 9s and one Grade 8, plus a Grade 9 in Further Mathematics
🌟 Charlotte Fenton achieved nine Grade 9s and one Grade 7, plus a Grade 9 in Further Mathematics

👏 Six students achieved eight or more Grade 9s.

Headteacher David Sims commented: 
“These results reflect the ambition, resilience and hard work of our students across a broad range of subjects. They should be immensely proud of what they have achieved and can move into sixth form study with confidence. I would like to congratulate every student and thank our staff and families for the encouragement, expertise and support they have given throughout.”

Bournemouth School for Girls A Level students have once again achieved outstanding A level results, with around a third of all A-level outcomes awarded at A* or A and 62% at A*–B. More than 86% of outcomes were at A*–C.

We recorded 600 A-level outcomes across a broad curriculum. Thirty-six students taking at least three A levels achieved A or A* in every A-level subject recorded on the school broadsheet.

There were exceptional individual performances across both STEM and humanities subjects, including two students who achieved four A* grades and a further three students who achieved three A* grades across three A levels.

Headteacher David Sims commented:
“We are extremely proud of our students and the commitment they have shown throughout their A Level studies. These results reflect sustained hard work, the support of families and the expertise and dedication of our staff. It is particularly pleasing to see strong outcomes across such a wide range of subjects and to know that our students are well prepared for their next steps in higher education, apprenticeships and employment.”

What a day! Today we played Chelmsford County High school for girls in the semi finals of the knight-Stokes cup. Once we had taken in the beauty of Wormsley CC we got down to business. We were put into bat first. Great batting was needed off the whole team as they took some quick wickets. The team did well and scored 125/7 off the 20 overs.

We then bowled and fielded superbly, keeping their run rate down below what they needed. However, as is sport it ebbed and flowed and in true fashion went down to the last ball.

Sadly this was not our year. Congratulations to Chelmsford who put up a great fight. We take heart and pride knowing we pushed them all the way, and look forward to going one better next year. The team has grown and developed so much this year and a big shout out to Dan Hardy for all his efforts in coaching the team and Dorset cricket for the support of the team.

We finish in the top 4 schools in England - what an achievement!

At the end of June, some of our Year 8 students embarked on an unforgettable journey through Normandy, bringing their classroom learning to life through visits to some of France’s most significant historical and cultural landmarks.

From sailing across the Channel to exploring Sainte-Mère-Église, the Mémorial de Caen, Pegasus Bridge and the American Cemetery, students gained a deeper understanding of the events and sacrifices of World War II.

Due to the exceptionally high temperatures, the planned visit to Mont Saint-Michel was unfortunately not possible. Instead, students enjoyed a visit to a traditional caramel factory, where they learned about the production process and sampled some local Norman specialities.

The trip concluded with a visit to Arromanches and the D-Day Museum, where students saw the remains of the Mulberry Harbour and reflected on the legacy of D-Day.

The trip was filled with learning, reflection, friendship and memories that will stay with us for years to come.

Thank you to all the staff and students who made it such a success!

Our Year 7 geographers have been exploring weather and climate and took on an exciting homework challenge: creating their own weather instruments using upcycled materials! ♻️🌍

After monitoring the weather in their gardens, students brought their inventions into school to demonstrate how they worked and share their findings.

From homemade rain gauges to creative wind vanes, their ingenuity and enthusiasm were on full display!
A fantastic example of hands-on learning, scientific enquiry and sustainability in action.
