Living with the short term memory loss associated with dementia can lead to anxiety and confusion. This can result in panic and aggressive behavior. Care institutions often prescribe medication to help calm the individual which it does but maybe not the best method to prolong quality of life and maintain self esteem.
Prof. Tom Kitwood's "Person - centred care" suggests that the care should spend time quietly offering reassurance and chatting about things they know the person will relate to. Never easy in our care facilities with staff shortages and high turnover.
Creating a Memory Journal allows staff to quickly get to know more about the individual and especially the things that make them who they are. It needs to be durable and easy to find and manage.
We specialise in helping your loved one to create their own special journal. Why not give us a call or message us for more detail.

Creating a Memory Journal is not
only a fun pastime, it allows those living
with dementia the opportunity to reminisce
and share their memories with family,
friends & care staff. It offers a window for
carers to come to know their service user
and practice the very best person-centred
care, helping the individual to retain both
their identity and dignity. For the carer it
offers an ideal tool to sooth those moments
of confusion and distress that are so often
associated with dementia.
Of course you do not have to have dementia
to enjoy journaling.

Do you care for an elderly person. As we grow older we cherish our memories and they become an important part of who we are. We help create a special journal full of the special things that have made us who we are. Offered as a very personal service to the elderly.

invited to exhibit her work at the Festival of Quilts at
the NEC. She is now offering regular classes and
courses in a range of crafts that will suit both the novice
as well as the more advanced student. The key to all
her courses is for all participants to have fun, be
creative and to enjoy the companionship of like-minded
souls. We keep groups small to offer quality tuition.
Perhaps you have an elderly parent. What nicer gift
than to pay for them to attend one of our courses. She
will have a wonderful time being creative and will
definitely enjoy the companionship. We can arrange
transport to our venues and carers are most welcome.
Alternatively Jenny will visit your retirement or care
home.
