Dear Families

The children have enjoyed a very sensory and creative week with lots of lovely play indoors and outside 🌳 ☀️

We’ve had squishy bags, ribbon threading, cooking with sand & conkers, water and bubble play and tasting apples from Dee’s tree 🍏 😋

We’ve also been lucky to be able to get out and about again with some lovely Autumn walks around the woods and ending the week with a trip to the church to explore the ‘noticing’ exhibition that is there until Sunday.

Next week we will be celebrating Space Week with one of our favourite books ‘Here We Are’ by Oliver Jeffers and also thinking about what makes us smile for national smile day on Monday 😀

A gentle reminder to please name everything that your child brings in to pre-school! There are some duplicates of water bottles & lunchboxes which can get a little confusing - especially as we encourage the children to manage their own belongings 😉

Thank you again for your contributions to our Autumn collection - please continue to send in some family/friends photos for our display as they provide a great talking point for the group (and we do love to chat at pre-school! 🗣️ 😁)

Dear Families

It’s been another lovely week expressing gratitude and using our lovely manners to notice when things are done for us that we can be thankful for 🥰

The children shared some lovely ideas - they are very grateful for those who make them breakfast and take them to the playground 😉

It’s lovely to see so much imaginative play developing amongst friends, they really are a creative bunch using all the resources in pre-school to create games inspired by our practicing prepositions of over, under and through in our healthy movers activities 😁

Next week we will be learning about languages to celebrate European day of languages and also building confidence to share news for World News Day on Monday 📰 🙌

Many thanks for those of you who brought in Autumnal resources to celebrate the equinox- please do keep bringing them in if you collect any on your walks out as they make a lovely addition to small world play 🍂

Dear Families,

Another fun week has flown by!
The children are settling in really well and more lovely play and friendships forming 🥰

It can be tricky for some of our little ones not familiar with the environment and being surrounded by (and having to share with!) so many peers so we are introducing our ‘core values’ in a way that is easy to understand.

We keep it as simple as possible with just three values; *be kind, be helpful and be safe*. When we say each, we offer simple explanations and aim to be as positive as possible - so instead of ‘don’t… stop… or no’ we use affirmative language and guidance. For example ‘no climbing’ would be phrased as ‘be safe - feet on the floor please’

Within these values we know that children will learn to safely navigate space and friendly behaviours - and what is lovely is that they have some wonderful role models in our older children to help them along 🥰

Next week we will be celebrating World Gratitude Day and the Autumn Equinox with discussions around what we are thankful for and noticing the signs of Autumn when we are out and about - if any of you collect pine cones, conkers, colourful leaves or acorns on your walks do bring them in to share at circle times 🍂 (also if anyone has an apple 🍏 or pear 🍐 tree that is bearing fruit we’d love to start our baking activities with a yummy crumble!)

As we start the new academic year we thought we would share some useful information to help support healthy eating at lunch times.

Dear Families

We’ve had the most wonderful first week back building on old friendships and creating new ones 🥰

The children have settled so well into the routine and helped to remind us how it all runs smoothly!

We’ve been so proud of our returning children and how they have helped and supported our new starters ❤️

We will continue to welcome new friends next week so we are continuing with our relaxed set up where the children are choosing how the play evolves over the week, although we will have a little focus on First Aid ⛑️ since the staff are freshly trained and keen to share our knowledge!

A few messages from this week;

- please remember to name all your children’s belongings
- please ensure that lunchboxes are egg and nut free and all food is cut into safe bite-size pieces (especially grapes, tomatoes & cocktail sausages cut lengthways)
- ⁠we would love to create a new ‘family and friends’ board so please could you send across some photos of your children with their nearest & dearest (including pets!)
- ⁠we may be going on local outings next week so please ensure you bring in weather appropriate clothing & footwear for your children
- ⁠we are figuring out our timetables now that everyone has had a full week back so we will be introducing you to your child’s key worker over the next two weeks
