Mini Mice Pre-School

Dear Families

We’ve enjoyed a lovely beginning to our last half term of this year - lots of sensory play, group games, outdoor play and wonderful crafts 🎨

The children welcomed the caterpillars in to pre-school and have been fascinated by their rate of growth! 🐛 we’re looking forward to the next stage of their life cycle 🦋

We’ve enjoyed taste testing with all the fruits the hungry caterpillar ate and matching quantities and colours 🍎 🍓 🍐 🍊

We had a visit from St Marks Reception Team who enjoyed meeting some of the little ones joining them in September 👩‍🏫

They set the children two challenges; to be able to recognise their name and to confidently separate from parents at drop off. We are happy to support the children in meeting these challenges and hope that you will support them too (though thankfully we’ve already been working on both things already!)🥰

Next week we are hopeful that we will be doing daily trips to the beach with small groups - it will be weather dependent so please ensure your child is dressed comfortably to enjoy a play on the sand.

We have sun hats & plenty of beach supplies, and we will just be visiting for the mornings to learn about beach safety whilst enjoying a lovely time together 🪣 🏖️ 🪏 🧢

There’s plenty to enjoy throughout the day at our Dingley’s Promise Garden Party at Englefield Estate!

Alongside artisan stalls, local food and drink, and family activities, we’re excited to welcome a fantastic line-up of live entertainment across the day, including:

• Pangbourne Choral Society
• The Hurst Singers

Dear Families

We’ve enjoyed a most glorious week with all weathers and all sorts of outings and activities!

Our Bumble Bear story saw us making honey sandwiches and searching for mini beasts as we got green fingered in the front garden and planted out all our seedlings that we’ve been growing 🌱 🪏 🐝

We had some lovely outings to the library, woods and church to visit Reverend Nick and give him the money that we fundraised from our sponsored litter pick ♻️ 🗑️

We return back after the half term break on Monday 1st June when we will be welcoming some more friends into pre-school for our story ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ 🐛 🦋- so it will be a week of tasting different foods and exploring as we watch our caterpillars grow!

The weather is set to get sunny & hot so please ensure your children have plenty of fluids & wear sunscreen - when coming to pre-school please can you apply it before they come in and when we go on outings we will be sun safe with hats & extra sun cream.

We plan on doing lots of trips out to make the most of the weather and to enjoy our last half term together for those heading to big school in September. For those staying on our Autumn Term begins on Monday 7th September ☀️ 🍁

Dear Families

Some of our staff team are studying towards gaining their level 3 childcare professional certificates.

As part of their course they are required to have assessments in the setting. They plan activities with the children and a verified assessor visits to observe them carrying out both the activities and general practice in their roles.

Some of your children will be involved in the activities - it is all things that they are familiar with doing and they themselves are not being assessed, just the staff.

If you would *NOT* like your child to take part in these activities please let us know. We respect your choices and those you make for your children.
