Amazing post! Must Share
Today, we want to shine a light on Samuel Coleridge-Taylor (1875–1912), a name everyone who loves classical music should know.
Beyond his musical brilliance, Coleridge-Taylor became a symbol of pride and perseverance. In the face of prejudice, he celebrated African heritage through his music, inspiring generations of Black artists in Britain, America, and beyond. Admired by African American musicians and activists who called him the “African Mahler”, he even met President Theodore Roosevelt during his U.S. tours.
Though he passed away at just 37, his legacy lives on through his beautiful compositions and his example of dignity, creativity, and unity through art.
If you haven’t heard his work, take a moment to listen to “Hiawatha’s Wedding Feast” or the moving “Ballade in A minor.” You’ll soon see why Samuel Coleridge-Taylor remains such an inspiring figure.

Every single one of us will experience stress in our life, we don't always know when it will show up and stressors occurring is not something which can be helped or controlled.
In recent years, stress has become something that we have all become more and more accustomed to.
The COVID pandemic.
The cost of living crisis.
Work and personal pressures.
Escalating global conflicts.

At Freo, we want you to know that managing stress doesn't have to mean packing more into your already busy schedule or pushing your wellbeing to the side. It also doesn't mean trying to find ways to control things we simply can't control.
It means learning ways to manage our response. Because this is a skill which CAN be learned. Just like riding a bike.
& Effective stress management can simplify your life, enhance your health, and restore your sense of control.

Useful Info
Cancer awareness statistics in people of color reveal significant disparities in incidence, mortality, and survival rates compared to white populations.
Disparities by Cancer Type:
Prostate Cancer: Black men have the highest death rate for prostate cancer, with a rate twice as high as white men. Prostate cancer is the most common cancer type in Black men, accounting for 37% of all new cancer diagnoses.
Breast Cancer Black women have a lower incidence rate of breast cancer compared to white women but experience higher mortality rates. Black women are more likely to be diagnosed with aggressive subtypes and have worse survival outcomes.
Colorectal Cancer: Black people have the highest incidence of colorectal cancer, nearly 15% higher compared to white people. Colorectal cancer is the fourth most common cancer in the Black population.
Lung Cancer: Lung cancer incidence rates vary among Black populations, with US-born Black males having higher rates than Caribbean-born Black males. Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related mortality in Black men and the second-leading cause of cancer deaths in Black women.
Mortality Rates:
Black people have the highest cancer mortality rate, with 169 per 100,000 deaths, compared to 150 per 100,000 deaths in white people.
The cancer mortality rate ratio between Black and white individuals decreased from 1.26 in 2000 to 1.12 in 2020, indicating a narrowing of the disparity gap
Survival Rates:
White individuals tend to have higher survival rates for certain cancers, such as colorectal, lung, and breast cancer, compared to Black individuals.
Five-year relative survival is lower for Blacks than whites for most cancers at each stage of diagnosis ⁴ ⁵.
Awareness and Screening:
Overall cancer screening rates are lower among Black, Hispanic, Asian, and American Indian/Alaska Native (AIAN) populations compared to their white counterparts.
People of color are more likely to be diagnosed with cancer at a later stage, contributing to worse survival outcomes ¹.
