Yesterday I went to Kingston Common on the edge of Ringwood. It's a beautiful spot that isn't visited a great deal! The highlight was a Great White Egret in summer plumage- this species is becoming an increasingly common winter visitor but no-one has told this one that it is supposed to migrate!

Nice to see (and hear) some tree pipits at Avon Heath Country Park today. Also a pair of Dartford Warblers, plenty of stonechats and a couple of small coppers.

One of the local foxes spotted prowling around last. I'm a big fan of our local vulpines and get to see plenty of them as Bournemouth has the highest concentration of urban foxes in the UK.

A lovely evening stroll around Stour Valley Local Nature Reserve with so much birdsong. Great to see some lapwings displaying over the farmland on the far side of the river.

I went to Lymington-Keyhaven Nature Reserve yesterday and was treated to a real plethora of birds including a few waders I didn't yet have on my year list.

I walked the other side of Poole today, from Whitecliff to the quay and back through Poole Park. 29 sp seen. I especially like seeing the turnstones being busy and some starting to look stunning in their summer plumage.

I had an utterly gorgeous walk from Poole town to Upton Country Park today, taking in the beautiful sights of Holes Bay.
- Male peregrine seen tearing up a kill close to the nest box where the female was probably sat on eggs (which are due to hatch in about two weeks)
- Hundreds of black-tailed godwits in Holes Bay, some starting to show summer plumage
- A handful of curlew, redshank and oystercatchers also present and later a sandwich tern fishing
- Stock doves seen nesting in woods in Upton Country Park

A quick visit to Stanpit Marsh this morning didn't produce any eagles but lots of smaller birds and a cormorant trying to swallow a sizeable fish. Also nice to see some butterflies albeit sluggish ones around Priory Marsh in Christchurch.
