Receiving wonderful reviews is such a boost. Even better when your student just got an amazing result in their mock paper 🥳

I’ve had a change of location and am now operating from Bournemouth as well as continuing online.

There are a few evening slots left and I’m taking enquiries for individual or group Home Ed-ers.

Taking on new students!

If you’re looking for some extra support this year for you or for your child, please get in touch. We can have a chat on the phone or face to face to see if tutoring might help.

I’m flexible with timings and short sessions, only having a few for a bit of a boost, or just to see how it goes!

It can be daunting going back to school so I always aim to make tutoring as individual and positive an experience as possible 🙂

Good luck to everyone returning to school, I hope you’ve all had a lovely summer.

I first loved this book as a young teenager because I loved the Romantic setting - the dilapidated castle, the time period that was ‘old’ but that with no google, I couldn’t precisely work out, and the Eccentric characters like the step-mother dancing under the moon in nothing but her wellies. It made me feel that I too could live out my eccentricities and that I too could one day live in a castle…

This book is a coming of age story that is perfect for young readers beginning their own journey into the grown-up world of relationships and responsibility. The main character is accused of being ‘consciously naive’ and on my first reading I couldn’t understand what this meant. Later I came to realise there is an irony that is because really, the character is actually naive, as was I, which is why the story is a beautiful portrayal of different types of romantic relationships and why people seem to so often strive for what can seem to be so obviously the wrong one!

I’d recommend for 13+ and for readers who have an interest in romance.

Interesting point to note: Dodie Smith is more famous for being the original writer of ‘101 Dalmatians’.

9 books all Year 11s should read this summer 24/09/2021

I first read this article as for ‘eleven-year-olds’ which shows that even the most professional of readers 👩‍🏫 get it wrong sometimes! Whoops!

It’s a great list with a few that I am now going to have to go and read myself! I’d recommend any GCSE and A-Level English students looking to push their critical reading skills, or anyone looking for some really interesting and current books to read, to take a look through 👇👇👇

It got me thinking though, one of the questions I’m always asked the most by parents is what books I can recommend for their children. So, over the coming weeks, I’m going to post some of my favourite book recommendations for KS3 and GCSE students along with why I love them, what age I’d recommend them for and who might also enjoy.

Watch this space for reading recommendations or even some early stocking filler ideas! 📚🎁👩‍🏫

Happy reading!
