'To mask up' was added to the Oxford English dictionary this quarter (June 2021), along with 'unmute' and a revised definition of 'staycation'. There were many other new entries, but these phrases reflect current habits during the pandemic and the evolution of language.

- To mask up means to put on a mask.
We need to mask up before we go into a shop.

- Unmute means to put your mic on during a video call.
Click the microphone button to mute or unmute the sound.

- Staycation is a combination (mashup) of stay and vacation. The debate about staycation was whether it meant a holiday in your own home or a holiday in the country where you live. The new definition in the dictionary includes both.
We’re having a staycation this year because of the travel restrictions.

No need to mask up in our lessons but we will ask you to unmute so we can chat.
