Yesterday, while going for an evening jog, a lady and her dog disturbed two deer who were among the dunes on the beach. I wasn't there, but the story is easy to see in the tracks left behind the following morning. Having fun practising my tracking over Sandbankds on a chilled day

Checking on the absolute carnage of a New Year's Eve at my house. Feet up, a whiskey and a book. At 18, I wanted to be a rockstar... Happy New Year to you all

Today, I completed my NCFE Level 2 in bushcraft instructing with . Last week, I attended Level 3 and soon to have my assessment for that. They're a great bunch of instructors, their sites are ideal environments for learning, and everyone is determined to help you succeed. I'm very happy with my experiences over the last few months and would recommend them to anyone

Follow on from the Rosebay Willowherb experiment. One 5 foot plant produces enough fibres to create 4 and a half feet worth of cordage with surprisingly little shrinkage. Surprisingly strong, too. Definitely one I'll be going back to in the future

Alder and Willow. Good indicators of fresh water nearby

Really enjoying practicing these primitive traps for survival. The ojibwe bird trap is an ingenious way to hold small birds

Small bit of primitive traps practice with the standard figure 4 deadfall
