✨ 11+ PARENTS: FINAL FEW WEEKS ✨
With the 11+ approaching, it can be tempting to squeeze in as much practice as possible. But right now, the focus should be on keeping children calm, confident and positive. 💜
⏰ 1. LITTLE & OFTEN
Swap long revision sessions and endless full papers for short, focused bursts of practice. 🎯
15–30 minutes working on a particular skill can be much more productive and helps prevent children feeling overwhelmed or fed up.
🌈 2. KEEP IT IN PERSPECTIVE
Try not to let the 11+ become the main topic of conversation at home. Remind your child that all they need to do is try their best. 💫
Keeping things relaxed helps reduce pressure and allows them to approach the exam with a clearer, calmer mind.
📝 3. LEARN FROM MISTAKES – DON’T CHASE SCORES
Instead of focusing on percentages, look at why mistakes happened. 🔍
Was it rushing? A tricky word? A misunderstood question? A small gap in knowledge?
A few carefully chosen questions targeting these areas can be far more valuable than completing another full paper.
⚽️ 4. PROTECT THEIR DOWNTIME
Keep the football practice, playdates, trips to the park, movie nights and lazy mornings! 🧸🎨🌳
Children still need time to play, relax and switch off. A happy, rested child is much better prepared to tackle a challenging exam.
⭐️ 5. BUILD THEM UP
In these final weeks, focus on how far they’ve come. 💕
Praise their effort, resilience and progress rather than concentrating only on marks. Help them walk into that exam thinking:
“I can do this.” 💪✨
💜 The final-weeks mantra:
✨ Keep it short.
✨ Keep it positive.
✨ Keep it calm.
They’ve done the hard work. Now it’s about giving them the confidence to show what they can do. 🌟
