Our learners worked it out on the whiteboard with percentages and unit conversions, then went outside and weighed the haynets to check. Maths makes more sense when a pony is waiting for the answer.

Mornings can be the hardest part of the day when school or college feels like too much.

For some families, a calmer routine, fewer words and clear, predictable steps help a little. For others, the young person needs a different kind of setting.

At Wild Minds, the day starts with a predictable welcome and a check-in with a known adult. There is time and space to settle before any learning begins.

A day here might start with the animals, move into maths or English, break for lunch together and finish in the workshop or the kitchen. Vocational skills, core skills and personal development all sit in the same day, shaped around how each young person learns best.

Wild Minds is specialist, relationship-led alternative provision for young people aged 11 to 25, across three sites in Buckinghamshire and Berkshire. Small groups, consistent adults, real work with real animals and tools, and learning that starts with feeling safe.

We hope all of our Wild Minds students are having a wonderful summer.

While you’ve been off enjoying the holidays, life at the farm hasn’t stopped. Your favourite faces still need feeding, mucking out, checking, cuddling and generally keeping out of mischief every single day.

They are all getting plenty of love 💕 Romany and Calliope are making sure they are getting lots of attention.

We know how important the animals are to so many of our young people. They’re part of the routine, the relationships and the sense of belonging that makes Wild Minds what it is.

Here’s a little hello from some familiar faces. They’ll be waiting for you when September comes around.
